LoveInStereo Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 13 years after their debut, Desire is back with their sophomore album, Escape. Can't recommend strongly enough. https://idib.ffm.to/desire-escape
Pop Life Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 (edited) I was so mad at them for all the constant delays (wasn't this supposed to be out in 2020?) but honestly it was worth the wait. It appears all of the old singles have been reworked from the ground up. The title track is the candy-coated 80s pop gem I've always wanted from them and Black Latex is a completely new song now (even if it heavily borrows from Tick of the Clock.) I'm glad Johnny and Megan weren't just sitting around getting sunburned by some pool in Palm Springs this whole time. The only thing I'm not a fan of are some of the mixing choices for the more recent singles. Ghost was literally a perfect song, but the album version was made vastly inferior. I guess it was to make it "fit in" with the mixing choices on the rest of the album, but Johnny really drowned out alot of the quieter elements that made it so emotionally affecting. Polgg48 Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 (edited) well, basically eurythmic sounds on cracks and mediocre monologue. adore the production so much uplifting her robotic vocal to feel alive and carry the album visual. maybe labelling as one of those forgotton underrated of the year but i could resonate so much with tracklist flowing and bop so hard. impressive, love this record. my favourites are also those OP videos.
