Every religion is a cult. If that's where she feels at peace, let her live her brainwashed self.

Y'all need to separate the actor to their personal beliefs. Otherwise y'all need keep that same energy with Tom Cruise. Especially the judgemental gaga fans in here. A bit hypocrite.

Most do keep that same energy, especially with Tom Cruise... where you been sis? Scientology aint it, was never it, and will never be it. Sure every religion is problematic, but the hollywood scientology machine is ruthless and disgusting and these celebrities/actors deserve all the lashings because they donate buckets of money to this criminal organization. You can make arguments comparing other religions, but Scientology is one of the MOST absurd "religions" ever created. There is almost no redeeming quality about it, is not integrated with historical culture, and also most major religions don't charge money (large sums of it) to have access to their basic readings and materials. Most religions will give you this information for free on the off-chance you might submit to their pleas for donations. With Scientology, Its a blatant scam that was designed FROM INCEPTION (from its money-hungry sci-fi obsessed creator) to exploit people for monetary gain. Sure, there are predatory sects of many religions, but you can't ignore that is all encompassing in Scientology.

I didn’t know she was part of that cult :chick3:

She was born in it

She barely speaks about them, so I feel like a lot of people secretly hoped she wasn't that into it anymore.

Good on her for reminding us she's still a brainwashed idiot, bordering on evil.

If she's brainwashed then she's not an idiot - she is brainwashed

She was born into it so I feel a bit more sympathy for her. Not easy to leave the cult if it’s all you’ve ever known.

I don't even get why it's called Scientology. Like, nothing about it is based on actual proven science, more like science-fiction. :skull:

Her and the one from SNL really disappointed me when I found out that they were Scientologists.

This, it's all she's ever known, so I feel a little sympathy

I'm anti religion but I don't understand people that compare this with traditional religion. Members of my family are catholic and they're not forbidden from speaking to us if we don't follow their religion. I can say whatever I want about catholics and I won't be slandered by an entire organization or sued for defamation. The catholic church is happy to get money/tax money but they don't ask you to sell your house for them. The catholic church doesn't include a section of its organization dedicated to child slavery. I'm not that well versed into catholicism, it's possible some or all of these things happened when the church first began, but it hasn't been the reality for any generation that's alive now, so the comparison feels a little bit weird

What part of "I'm anti religion" confused you?

For a big cult, I don’t see them shoving their religion into mainstream media, like they don’t demand representation on a scripted show to polish their image.

Its either they don’t know how present themselves or they don’t care about a wholesome image.

It's a cult. Christianity for example has been used as the basis for many cults like the Jehovah's Witnesses. People saying all religions are cults are undermining the actual meaning of the word, and underselling the actual danger of cults.

people just like being impartial because it's the safe option. that's why people always blame religion as a whole instead of Islam whenever an act of Islamic extremism/terrorism in the name of Islam to avoid being called Islamophobic. so transparent.

The fact that one of her most well known roles is about a religious cult and yet she is in one :skull:

I’m sure Scientology doesn’t have that same problem with the possibly thousands of children allegedly being held captive on the sea org ships.

Girl The Handmaid's Tale is literally a cautionary tale against stuff like scientology. The lack of self-awareness is sending
