When you are served on stage, there is no claiming that they have the wrong person and no denying that you were served, because it's a matter of public record. Since it would have cost more to serve the papers this way (security clearances etc), they wouldn't have done it, if other methods hadn't already been tried and failed.

The status quo is that they all live in London, tho. Olivia and Harry share a house in Hampstead and Jason supposedly lives closer to the studio where he’s filming Ted Lasso. Each party seems to have the kids for a week, by what we see of their schedule. I presume the kids go to school in London, both Jason and Olivia are working there. Jason filming Ted Lasso and Olivia is about to start filming a movie. Jason also has a British girlfriend that lives in London.

 

There does seem to be conflict over which city they’ll settle in when they’re in the US. There were rumors all over that she wants to live in LA and Jason prefers NYC. The thing is that getting ahead of the situation wouldn’t change the outcome, because the kids were living in LA prior to the separation, going to school there (they’ve said it in multiple interviews), and they have family there, which they don’t in NYC. Also, Olivia has a legitimate reason to live in LA, which is her job as an actress and director. Jason has no legitimate reason to live in NYC, his current show films in London and other than that in the past better part of a decade he’s worked in Hollywood.

 

There really wasn’t a point in her dodging documents when the outcome will most likely favor her either way. But he does have a motivation to embarrass her. She could’ve been served before or after hitting the stage, if she had been dodging so much.

 

I’ve also seen a rumor all over about how this change in tune from Jason, who was willing to coparent until now, is because Harry and Olivia are engaged. I don’t know if there’s any legitimacy to that, tbh. It seems fanfic.

It seems a bit naive to suggest that Jason had no idea this company would get a ticket and all appropriate wristbands for this event and literally hand it to her on stage (not before, not after).

 

There is no incentive for the company to do it that way, unless it was per the client's wishes.

It's up to the bailiff or whoever is serving the papers to "catch" her and serve the papers on her somewhere she can't run away and refuse service.

The most fascinating thing about all of this is that every time Jason starts trending for something on twitter, verified twitter users (LA-based comedians, actors, journalists) start vague tweeting about him.
