it's very cute but the amount of "patriarchy" being thrown in the actual dialogues along with other buzzwords took me out

like it feels a bit plain for the explanation on that part... maybe that's the pointย :deadbanana2:

Just got back from the cinema after watching this and it was so feel good and funny and lighthearted.... how can anybody hate it? Especially after all the crap we've been put through collectively as a whole planet after the past few years?? We really needed this.

Because "woke" is bad and the patriarchy is good apparently.

Iโ€™m sure Disney is fuming over how well this is doing and canโ€™t stand to see that itโ€™s not one of their own IPs creating such a moment.ย

Annoying, WB really dodged a bullet here.

Saw this a second time and holds up beautifully. I WILL be streaming when it lands on the Max service later this year :clap3:ย

Barbie only needs 2.8x legs for the billion. Itโ€™s definitely getting there. SMASH.

Just got back from watching this and I really enjoyed it :heart2:

Very fun, light, really funny, didn't feel long, but still heartwarming, smart, and inspiring.

Small critique:

Spoiler

If I had to complain about something, and it's not a huge thing, I did love the movie, but I do wish some of the inspirational moments were a little less... explicit? I don't know, sometimes it just felt a little too thrown in my face instead of being implied, BUT I did appreciate that there were always other messages following, that were maybe not as obvious, or delivered through jokes. Plus, some of the obviousness was clearly done for comedic effect, so it wasn't too bad. This is actually why I wanna watch it again - I need to process all the messages and the obviousness or not of all of them. But yeah, I do wish there weren't so many direct moments, cause I do think those messages always settle better when they're implied, rather than explicitly stated.ย

Also, could someone please tell me - I ran out the second the credits started rolling (I needed to go to the bathroom for like half the movie :rip:), did I miss anything? Was there some post-credit scene or something cute shown during the credits?

Am I the only one who thought that montage of the women with the Billie eilish song was very random and awkward? It was basically screaming โ€žThis film is deep and emotional!โ€œ but in the most emotionally manipulative way ever.ย

yeah. sorry but that was the CREATOR of Barbie.

I saw it earlier today at a matinee showing and loved it. Ken gave me a headache, though. :chick2:

It seems like a film that would have a lot of replay value, there's always so much going on at any given moment. It probably would have benefited from a little bit of a longer runtime. I do wish some moments were a little more fleshed out. That said, I do think some things should have been toned down just a bit; the sheer silliness of it all sometimes overshadowed the messages that they were trying to convey.

ย

I'm glad this film is doing well for Margot Robbie. She's so wonderful! And I, especially, loved Issa Rae as the President. :alexz3:

I liked it! but the plot lost its way halfway through.

at first, the plot seems to be about Barbie having an existential crisis, then it becomes about how men are still in charge. then it's about feminism. then it ends with Barbie wanting to become human? it was a bit all over the place. but I liked it nonetheless
