Enrique523 Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I have breaking news for some people: EVERY film, EVERY story is emotionally manipulative, since the goal is to make you feel emotions. People only have a problem with it if they don't like what they're seeing. 2 1
Fevesy Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Went to see it twice already. Such a classic movie. I loved it. I recommend watching it a second time since there was stuff that was funnier the second time around. Both times I went with women and seeing how much they smiled afterwards was amazing.

Katamari Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Barbie world being censored in the album but not in the film took me out spices Barbie ***** with her Barbie clip line is never censored
truthteller Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 (edited) it's very cute but the amount of "patriarchy" being thrown in the actual dialogues along with other buzzwords took me out like it feels a bit plain for the explanation on that part... maybe that's the point Edited July 24, 2023 by truthteller
Vignesh Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Just got back from the cinema after watching this and it was so feel good and funny and lighthearted.... how can anybody hate it? Especially after all the crap we've been put through collectively as a whole planet after the past few years?? We really needed this. 2

Novacaine Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I’m sure Disney is fuming over how well this is doing and can’t stand to see that it’s not one of their own IPs creating such a moment. 1 1 1

Gossip_Boy Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Barbie only needs 2.8x legs for the billion. It’s definitely getting there. SMASH. 1
NumbSoul Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Just got back from watching this and I really enjoyed it Very fun, light, really funny, didn't feel long, but still heartwarming, smart, and inspiring. Small critique: Spoiler If I had to complain about something, and it's not a huge thing, I did love the movie, but I do wish some of the inspirational moments were a little less... explicit? I don't know, sometimes it just felt a little too thrown in my face instead of being implied, BUT I did appreciate that there were always other messages following, that were maybe not as obvious, or delivered through jokes. Plus, some of the obviousness was clearly done for comedic effect, so it wasn't too bad. This is actually why I wanna watch it again - I need to process all the messages and the obviousness or not of all of them. But yeah, I do wish there weren't so many direct moments, cause I do think those messages always settle better when they're implied, rather than explicitly stated. Also, could someone please tell me - I ran out the second the credits started rolling (I needed to go to the bathroom for like half the movie ), did I miss anything? Was there some post-credit scene or something cute shown during the credits?

DamianSolo Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 I saw it earlier today at a matinee showing and loved it. Ken gave me a headache, though. It seems like a film that would have a lot of replay value, there's always so much going on at any given moment. It probably would have benefited from a little bit of a longer runtime. I do wish some moments were a little more fleshed out. That said, I do think some things should have been toned down just a bit; the sheer silliness of it all sometimes overshadowed the messages that they were trying to convey. I'm glad this film is doing well for Margot Robbie. She's so wonderful! And I, especially, loved Issa Rae as the President.
