As much as I loved this film, I really hope there aren't any sequels or spin-offs. This movie was perfect as just a one off. If anything studios should be smart enough to realize lightning probably won't strike twice and just try to create other stories with great marketing that can put butts in seats.ย

Wasn't a Ken spin off already confirmed?

ย

They planned this with all the Ken moments ddd. Ryan ate tho so. I just don't want to hear "u all missed the point by praising Ken and not the barbies!!!" as if it isn't the directors fault. Ryan even got 2 songs in the movie Margot got nothing.

Maybe because Ryan had a musical background while Margot is not?

Girl it's Barbie not Chicago. She could've had a cute very POP number for the opening.

The entire opening was a song overscoring the events of the day and she was the main focus of a showstopping dance sequence wdym

She can't sing, sis. It's gonna be an autotuned mess ala Watson in Beauty and The Beast. :rip:

Ken's bitterness and facial expressions were the highlight of that dance sequence lbr

I would actually love a remake in 30 years that updates the story. Barbie (2023) was a great commentary on the doll, its history and its place in the (patriarchal) world. I think it would be interesting to see another retrospective after some time has passed!

as much as I enjoyed Ryan Gosling's performance as Ken, I think he was heavily aided by good writing and direction. the role was not particularly challenging as far as acting goes. Simu Liu actually ate him up during the dance sequence.

ย

Margot had a lot harder role to play and did amazing, which is a lot more impressive to me. Barbie actually had to display emotional range.ย

I'll be so ******* happy if this makes a billion

I was SO hyped for this movie but didn't love it as much as I'd hope I would. Too much Ken for my liking.

So now people are trying to say that Ken is the only reason the movie is good and Margot is nothing? Some of you are such an embarrassment i swearย :toofunny3:

Ryan and Margot were both great. But in terms of performance I think Margot was given more moments to be nuanced and vulnerable. I felt what she was feeling in the little moments like with the old woman on the bench and the scene near the end with Ruth.

Exactly. Ryan is great in the film but Margot has more emotional range by far.

Judging an actor for their... dancing sequence? What's next? :rip:ย Ryan did amazing and the audience loved him.

Right? People always find a way to discredit women one way or another, even when they're the stars of their own movies. It's so tiringย :toofunny3:

you literally cropped the rest of my comment. I didn't say Ryan Gosling wasn't good. he was and I enjoyed his performance. you are just looking to be offended.ย

The way Greta took camp to the next level that some moments become genius rather than ridiculous. Like the path to travel to the Real World :dies:
