The trailer left so much to be desired but there’s no way the movie will disappoint

Morbius also got plenty of viral moments on Twitter.

Viral moments of people dragging it and mocking it. Everyone is loving Barbie and being excited to watch it.

I'm still not sure if this will great. Margot feels lacking that perkiness that would ground this film, though I might be wrong in that she might actually is the comedic straight character in the film. The Ken's are serving camp though. Both Simu and Gosling is doing great camp acting, the dialogue though could have been more clever and snappier. Visually, looks fine. At least, it knows that color is required.

I feel like this will be good :jonny:

This looks stupid and fun. Exactly what I would want a Barbie movie to look like. SEATED.

I would say Barbie aligns more with the Minions movie than Morbius, being that it’s a silly, light-hearted movie that people can enjoy even if it isn't the greatest thing ever.

Morbius took itself way too seriously and was absolutely awful, that the reviews probably turned a lot away from seeing it. And Sony already had mostly an iffy track record with superhero films so trying to make a Spider-Man cinematic universe without Spider-Man was always going to be an uphill battle with or without the memes.

Ryan Gosling said this was the best screenplay he has ever read (no he doesn't say this for every movie) and he has a career with a lot of very well written movies.

Margot Robbie said months ago when She read the screenplay she loved It and she said to her agent "but no one will produce this movie" so she was surprised warner decided to make It.

The movie Is pg-13 so clearly there is more of what they're showing.

True enough but people enjoying a meme on Twitter doesn’t necessarily equate to butts on seats. At least the Minions trend encouraged people to (Pokemon) go to their local theatre to recreate it.

That hair color especially is doing him absolutely no favors.

The way this movie has been dominating social media for the past 24h :deadbanana2: a cultural phenomenon already!

It's wild. Basically everyone I know was posting the posters (and parody ones) on their Insta stories. :deadbanana2: It's everywhere.

I can't see a scenario in which this doesn't bomb. :rip: Literally who does this appeal to? Kids are obviously not the intended audience which is already at odds with the IP. Adult men aren't going to show up in droves and even adult women I feel will turn their nose up at it for the most part.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling don't sell tickets either. And this cost $100m excluding marketing?

Even as a counter-programming exercise it still feels like a huge roll of the dice.

Thank you :clap3:

Outside supposed social media hype I do not see how it translates to wider audiences; and we are three months out with no full trailer and reshoots and no real idea what the hook is beyond “live action Barbie”? Is this joke laden heavy? A colourful fantasy? A fish out of water story with Barbie in the real world? For families? Raunchy comedy satire for adult audiences?

It would be great if it could be a smash alongside Oppenheimer and things could pick up as they reveal more in the coming weeks but it just feels like such an obvious misfire to me :rip:

would you rather have a filler filled face tuned twink in the role? ken is a grown ass man that looks as such. the attacks of ryan gosling's are weird

well considering the property the odds are moreso in it's favors. this is for teens and adults and the gays clearly (this will be the adult men that are going to show up in droves)
