Lost In Paradise Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 getting kind of nervous about this now... were any of the scenes/dialogue shown in the trailer supposed to be funny? are they going to be more funny with context? I thought this was going in a much more interesting direction...

I thought this was going in a much more interesting direction... this trailer doesn't show anything about the plot. People who read the screenplay said the screenplay it's really surprising and not what you should expect from a barbie movie. This second teaser it's just selling a basic barbie movie. 80% of scenes from this trailer are also imo from like first 30 minutes of the movie. Edited April 4, 2023 by vale9001

I forget where I read this, but didn’t they say a few scenes from screenplay touches on sexual assault and harassment?

Gui Blackout Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Looks so good ahhhh Glad they didn't give away anything from the actual plot

I too was offered a role but it conflicted with my schedule at the time of filming. I really dodge a bullet with this one. What the hell is this And that trailer
Universo Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 This trailer is awful I’m sorry but i trust Greta so i hope it’s good
Da Vinci Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Well the hype certainly went from 100 to 0 Great gowns beautiful gowns
D_Man3379 Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Never count out on ATRLers being a bunch of negative Nancies.
Godly Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 I think they better hope for some Minions-esque kind of trend where people dressed up to go watch a stupid movie just because to set off cause social media hype be damned I smell a box office underperformance, as it's often the case with the things that tickle the sensibilities of hyper-aware Twitter The crowd that would engage with such a trend will unfortunately be busy watching Oppenheimer though
eleganceislearned Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 (edited) Toy Story Barbie and Ken outsold. After this teaser and Little Women, I've come to the conclusion that Greta Gerwig has very little knack for aesthetics. (Also, she should have got legend Mona May for the costumes). Something about the surroundings made me feel ill instead of nostalgic (like a Doodlebops vibe). Margot has the Barbie look, but not the charming, happy-go-lucky essence - she's comes off as oddly harsh. Ryan fares better as Ken, but he's a bit too old. I hate saying this because I'm usually anti-ageism, but it's KEN. Ken having crows feet feels very wrong. It kind of takes me out. They also should've ponied up for the rights to the Aqua song. Anyway, I was excited for this, but it looks mid as hell. A shame because I love Barbie and had high hopes. Edited April 4, 2023 by eleganceislearned

That would've been more effective than all these unnecessary celebrity cameos tbh, it would've been instant nostalgia bait When she said "Hi Ken!" I literally thought of the song's intro
Poxy Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Okay after a bit rewatching I have come to the conclusion it’s not bad at all! I think I was expecting too much or it was just too off the mark that it threw me off. But also understanding it’s just a teaser worked. It was actually much funnier the second time around too.

Barbie is a huge brand. this movie will be G, PG at most. doesn't mean the movie will be for kids, it will be for everyone. kinda like what Shrek does which has some crude humor and suggestive content but made in a way that only adults would understand.
EnigmaticAndroid Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 This looks great, the production design alone

Rotunda Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Maybe I’m super unfamiliar with Barbie but what exactly are y’all expecting
