some of y'all still doubting wicked is crazy, the broadway show itself is huge and it was always a good bet that the movie would be massive as well

 

that's why so many actresses were fighting for the roles. with the reaction it's getting i wouldn't be surprised if both cynthia and ariana are nominated at the oscars and the movie gets a best picture nod

Why isn't it realistic? If the majority of experts are predicting her to get a nomination she absolutely has a realistic chance. Cynthia is not more likely, she's less likely. Lead Actress is way more competitive and it's a category that isn't as friendly to musical performances like Supporting Actress is. There is a precedent for musical and comedic performances to be nominated/rewarded in the Supporting categories. Cynthia is #6 in the odds with 10 out of 32 experts predicting her nomination. Ariana is #3 with 23 out of 32 experts predicting her nomination.

It should get Barbie noms, it's really good. The only weird part is Ariana being in supporting. She's a co-lead and arguably THE lead of the first half. She's in almost every scene, and when she's not her absence is highlighted.

We're still in an age that 2 leads of the same gender will never both be in the right category hence why The Room Next Door ladies Tilda Swinton & Julianne Moore both going lead was a shocker this year.
