I wonder if this movie will do well. Often movies with big mainstream stars attached tend to be rotten tomatoes poison but, alas.  Rooting for Miss Ariana

It should be fine. Hairspray did very well in theaters as have other musicals - so long as they're marketed as musicals. This is an adaptation of the play which is a prequel to the Wizard of Oz - one of the most beloved films of all time. I think it will do well as long as the effects are in point and they don't stray too far from the source material. Ariana is known as a vocalist and Cynthia has given fantastic performances beforehand as well.

I'm so excited to get an official recording with the No One Mourns the Wicked opt up. Ariana better pull out the Thank Goodness high note too.

Did they lower the key for Dancing Through Life? I wonder if they're also bringing back the Taye Diggs/Joey McIntyre As Long As Your Mine arrangement for Jonathan.

I don't love this, it's the worst poster in my opinion. Cynthia looks awkward and Ariana looks badly photoshopped in.

is it an actual poster? to me it looks like they just wanted to recreate the original for fun/for the ticket drop promo.

yes, it definitely is the worst "poster" so far but I also don't mind for that reason.

I hope so! If that's the case I wouldn't mind either. The other posters are amazing imo.

Yeah it sounds like it. Welp, better lower my expectations a little bit but hoping the rest is faithful :dancehall:

Critics and sales aside, as an Ariana stan I'm so excited to experience the roll-out and everything that's about to come. Countless looks, interviews, editorials, and for a while we're going to dive into a whole different fanbase experience :jonny6:

I hope the film is good but I'm sorry that poster is horrendous.

Yeah, the whisper poster isn't great, but who cares?

Everything else has been incredible. The new teaser finally giving us more of the songs :jonny5:

And pre-sale numbers are looking very promising. Can't believe how close this finally is. Got my tickets today. :clap3:

I'm so excited to see this, and I'm going to try and make plans with friends to see this on an IMAX opening weekend. Luckily, I don't live in a coastal city so I can wait until it's closer to release without worries.

Should I go see the musical? I think I'm gonna do that. Idk how will it affect my experience watching the movie. Or I should just go in directly for the movie and have that as my first judgement.

Isn't 'A Star Is Born' also a musical?

I don't trust Industry push tbh. The real test is if the Wicked audiences and the GP rave about it.

I want this to be good so I'm optimistic!

These early reviews from industry people actually sometimes means the movie is not that good. So I would take it with a pintch of salt.

The flash and joker 2 was great according to insiders.

If these are the same insiders who said that JokerFAD was great and that the way the songs were incorporated into the story was super smart… we're screwed

The industry really needs a smash after FAD, so they might be hyping it up. I'm excited regardless; I love the original musical.

I take insiders with a grain of salt this early before release but there have been screenings for fans of the stage musical and for some influencers which have raved about it so that's promising.

This is not comparable to Joker 2 in any capacity since Wicked is actually being made for its audience.
