They took all the biggest beats from the stage show and slipped them into the trailer to ensure the musical theater audience it's all still there, but so much more. If I'm not mistaken, this is only Part One's trailer which will be about 2 hours. I think we're in for surprises yet.

The editing was a bit clunky and part of the selling point is the music but the mixing of the music wasn't impactful it was almost anti-climatic? I appreciate them not wanting to give too much away but it's like they're spilling the vocal performances but infront of random score music rather than the actual instrumental to that specific song. I picked up on it when Popular and Defying Gravity was playing. Also the Ari scene with the black hat seemed almost like... not real? Her voice literally sounded like an AI. I'm still excited and will of course be going to see it but if this is a disappointment after years of waiting for a movie and hype I'll be sad. 1

Because I can't imagine 2:24 being any other part of the score than the final part of Defying Gravity and then the trailer ends with the one we've heard before. I wonder if they're keeping the 'real' one that's featured in the movie a secret for now.

Liafen Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Very weak and lazily edited trailer. 3m30s could've gone into 2m30s or even 2m to make it more energetic. Kind of a joke that the BTS footage hyping the trailer up works MILES better than the actual one lol.
