I've been waiting for this film for the last 15 years, and it didn't disappoint in the least. Every single cast member was perfectly cast and played their roles to perfection. The gorgeous costumes gagged me and the sets were just extraordinary. I'm so excited to see it all over again. Ariana and Cynthia were incredible. I know everyone has been hyping Ari (rightfully so), but Cynthia stole the whole film for me. The subtleties and complexities in her expressions were so captivating. I was sobbing during "Dancing Through Life" and "Defying Gravity" was better than I could've ever dreamed. Part two is going to ruin me, I just know it. What a film. My theater was mostly good about waiting until the end of the movie to clap, but everyone cheered and applauded after The Wizard and I dare I say it's the best version of that song I've ever heard 1
bync Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I can't even put into words how much this impacted me. I had never seen Wicked before, I didn't know any of the songs (except for Popular) and this movie turned me into a Wicked (or Oz) stan. Flawless performances by every single cast member but specially by Ariana and Cynthia. I was afraid of Ariana getting away from music and turning to acting (or doing musicals) but after seeing this, I'll be happy with whatever she does, she truly was in her element. What a talent! Cynthia was absolutely mesmerizing, she's so nuanced and intentional in everything she does it's nuts (I'm still crying to Defying Gravity as we speak-- the emotion she conveys in that song is so palpable). I really do hope they stay friends forever! I watched it on Wednesday and I'm going back today to see it in IMAX. SO excited! And I'm sure I'll be back a thousand more times. 1
