Jude Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The movie soundtrack was amazing. Much better than the OBC. I'm sure Arianators are gonna eat it. 1

Does Ari have those high whistle and opera notes in NOMTW too like it is in the original song? I've been having the original NOMTW on repeat these past few days. Edited 9 hours ago by genio

Imo her version is better (no shade to Kristin). 2 1

Tovitov Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Already bought my tickets for next week. Although a smidge concerned about the nearly 3 hour run time. Gonna need to pace myself on the diet coke. Edited 6 hours ago by Tovitov
ctlp27 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Cynthia really shines every scene. She brings cinema into the character (not a criticism but I found all the other cast playing it a bit too much like if they were in a theater). You really feel for her. Oscar nom guaranteed.
kendoll2001 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Watched it tonight and it was such an easy, comfortable watch. You can tell it meant a lot to everyone involved, and how important it was for all of them to honor and do it justice Ariana's performance is subtle yet crazy effective. Her acting in the We Can't Be Friends video made even more sense after seeing the film. She's really tapped into another level, so happy for her Can't wait for the sequel 1
AndresVanDeKamp Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago VERY minor complaints which I didn't expect. Kind of went in thinking it would be disappointing but knew very quickly that wasn't going to be the case. Any reservations I had about this being two parts have completely evaporated and I'll be in the theatre night 1 for the second half. This could be the greatest musical adaptation ever made, it was THAT good. Ariana was incredible and I was ready to be a hater. Give her all the awards I don't care. The second No One Mourns the Wicked started I knew it was over and this film was going to eat. By the way, I think NOMTW is the best number in the show, and the way they adapted it was badass. That burning witch was so effective and that entire scene was just expertly crafted. Excited to see part 2 and how the finale plays out with that set, it truly was stunning. I'm going to have to go see it again this weekend. Cynthia was just okay for me, but I'm hoping she'll have more to work with in part 2. She wasn't bad at all, she was spectacular, but Glinda was the STAR of this movie in my opinion. Defying Gravity though. Exactly what I was hoping for a film adaptation of this number, it was perfect. My showing was also nuts. Film was supposed to start at 6:30 and by 7pm it hadn't started. People were getting upset, the staff were not communicating at all what was going on. They came out at 7:15 to tell us they were having technical issues and the film "might" play in 15-20 minutes. People started losing their minds. One girl stood up and tried to get the crowd to sing Defying Gravity but no one was biting. She went on for way too long before sitting down, only to try again like 10 minutes later and that flopped too, poor girl. They then switched our showing to 3D and people were really starting to lose it. I love that kind of stuff though, to experience humanity in that way is so special. People at their absolute WORST and the tension in the room is so delicious to me. I basically had the best night of my life. My friends and I got trapped in the mall afterwards. It sort of felt like an Oz book the way it was like three or four little crazy adventures tied up in one evening. Definitely memorable! 2
Broken Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Below Beetlejuice? wtf Edited 6 hours ago by Broken
Thuggin Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 42 minutes ago, Broken said: Below Beetlejuice? wtf People were being way overly ambitious with their predictions. $100M+ is great and should have always been the goal. That said, I hope it outperforms its tracking a bit and hits $120M. It could always have legs too, but it'll be competing with Moana 2 so that'll be tough 1
Kool_Aid_King Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 1 hour ago, Broken said: Below Beetlejuice? wtf Factoring in the Pre-screenings on Monday & Wednesday, I think 150M+ is doable. I also see it's pretty sold out in the theaters near me today, tomorrow and Saturday, and I'm in the suburbs of Chicago where the demand is not THAT crazy.
Thuggin Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago They also need to add it to IMAX because there are zero IMAX showings in my city this weekend. It's all Gladiator.
stevenisFADING Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago So sad I chose Dolby instead of IMAX and have to wait til next week to see it in IMAX. However, I am so happy I decided to see it last night. It was INCREDIBLE. God, I am so proud of everyone in the cast because I can't imagine anyone else in their roles. I do hope they get a good amount of awards because it would be WELL deserved. Please go see this in Dolby or IMAX if you're able to! it's absolutely stunning. 2
