I'm predicting a range of $550M to $700M for the total WW box office. It likely will be a profitable movie for Universal. I think this will be domestic heavy though. Not sure how it'll do internationally. I can see it being a big hit in the UK. Is this being released in China?

The marketing team on this movie is IT. I have seen Stanley cups, H&M collab, BEIS collab, expensive candles, all sorts of dolls, Lego sets, her own makeup brand (of course), and that's just a fraction of what they got their hands on. They aren't playing with this movie.

Oh Gaga, don't make that face and get off the floor. Your movie may have tanked harder than anything else and is a complete and utter failure but at least you got a new album out of it. Wait…That was a horrible idea, people didn't care about it whatsoever and it debuted with tragic sales and flopped into obscurity. Liddos pretend that Harlequin never happened because of its intergalactic tankery. She was the laughing stock of Joker 2 and Harlequin was just an embarrassment. All of this had to be a really humbling experience for her.

the merch is actually CRAZY, I saw someone on TikTok unbox a PR box and it was huge and the variety of products was staggering.

Absolutely no chance it's beating Inside Out 2.

I don't see it happening but I just hope it will be successful enough for them not to have to cancel the second movie :dies:

Shameless. So many people were saying this was gonna flop because of the hate train Ari experienced earlier this year with the homewrecking allegations :skull: The second the success rolls in, people switch in an instant

How? The sales are super promising so far and the second movie is probably almost ready.

It won't be the biggest simply because Inside Out 2 was massive not just for 2024 but overall box office gross. However Wicked could realistically make a play for top 5 or even top 3 biggest movies of the year if the pre-sales are an accurate indication. It's going to open big.

The second movie is already done. There is 0% chance it will be cancelled even if the first movies bombs which it's not going to at this rate. Universal wants this to smash big time so they can continue milking the IP for all its worth.

if this optimistically manages to reach the 1B club would ariana be the first MPG to lead a billion grossing picture?

Same thing with Reddit, the consensus on r/boxoffice and even among Wicked fans was that this was dead on arrival, citing everything from bad casting to the Ariana/Ethan drama to bad CGI to dreary color scheme to bad trailers to too long of a promo campaign to no one wanting to watch a musical on the big screen, and now everyone is acting like they knew this would be a hit the whole time :rip:
