AxelFox Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Just came back from seeing this the second time. It was so much more of an emotional rollercoaster being aware of stuff, how things will go and paying attention to the small details. My god the intro sequence is simply spectacular. You can just feel the bittersweetness of it all in her mannerism and her voice. I got shivers this time. Not sure if it's the pop music stan gay inside me but Ariana is the highlight of the movie for me, I am obsessed with her in this role. Everytime she wasn't on the screen I was secretly waiting for her to show up again. The ballroom scene got me teary eyed again, it's so beautiful. And Defying Gravity hit a lot harder the second time, seeing their emotions as they both make their choices. Splendid. I'm so looking forward to the second movie. 13 1
Donquizote Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Seems like all stars are lining up for Ariana to win Oscar I thought Zoe was frontrunner, but Emilia Perez has been snubbed from big critic awards so far
Donquizote Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Box office pundit is predicting that wicked will do 32M this weekend. Hope it overperforms again. It will cross 300M domestically by the end of this weekend 3
Thuggin Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Ah damn, I was hoping for 40M hopefully next weekends' drops are softer. We need it to at least reach 400M domestic.
genio Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Finally saw Wicked last night and it was an amazing movie! Definitely the movie of the year (well it's the only one I saw this year anyways), Ariana and Cynthia were absolutely magnificent in their roles and I felt entertained from start to finish. I was a little worried at first when I read that some fans here and on stan twitter had issues with the lightning, but I didn't see a single thing to complain about in the lightning (or in anything else honestly). Since I already knew the soundtrack, it felt like a movie given to the soundtrack, like Bey did for The Gift with Black Is King. So in conclusion, the acting from all actors were fantastic, the music and live singing is very well and professionally done, the dance scenes were really fun and they rightfully cut the movie off at the most important part and scene. Also, can't believe people think off, see or hear Cat Valentine in Glinda. They truly just want to say things to hate, Ariana is nothing like Cat in here. She's a completely different role and anyone who bags to differ has no idea. I can't wait for part 2 and will see this again this weekend. 6
Jude Posted December 5 Posted December 5 It's so weird watching her first ever live TV interview. I bet nobody at that time would have thought she'd make it this huge.
blaggot Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I can't believe how long it's taking to restock the dolls they really **** the bed with that url oversight idk how much longer it'll be so I did buy one of the ~limited edition "misprint"~ dolls of elphie lmao

KingWitch Posted December 5 Posted December 5 The international numbers are not looking good ,it's opening in France this weekend but only predicted to do $2-3 million which is underwhelming. I have feeling this has to do with the musical itself not being so popular in these countries.
Thuggin Posted December 5 Posted December 5 If only Wicked could've had a few more weeks at #1 Competition these last two months of the year is just too strong. Moana will still easily win the weekend by $15M+ and then Mufasa and Sonic come. I wonder how much impact the singalong shows will actually have.

I get your point, but in my opinion the box office numbers are reaching A Star Is Born territory and that in itself is already amazing for Wicked. A $100m Int. excl. US gross and $400m WW gross in Wicked's 2.5 weeks run is pretty good. It might reach $550m this year and then close it around $600m, with like $230m Int. Gross, that's a huge success. 4 1
