KingWitch Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 This has very good WoM so it'll have legs, Joana or whatever her name is has bad WoM, expect it to start big then crash hard after
Miss Anthropocene Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 My 3rd watch tomorrow at a Screen X I ******* love this film 2
Bhabylon Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 The conservatives fuming about this movie, being like "I was a fan of the musical but I will not be watching!" like the message of the show really went over their tiny brains huh 1

Funhouse Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Several black women have played Elphaba since Saycon Sengbloh made her debut in the role in 2005 mind you, and the stage production has ALWAYS had male characters in skirts and dresses 3

If the movie offends them the musical would have too. So transparent in being full of s***, they were never fans of the musical lmao.
AxelFox Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I have many friends that want to go see this but the slots for this are terrible in my country omg We literally could not decide on anything for this weekend nor the next. I don't get it, especially since it's doing very well apparently in the US? For Friday there's only 3 slots at the most popular cinema nearby, whereas Moana has freaking 13. Not to mention, it's not playing in IMAX at all, only 2d or regular 3D (which I hate). I might just go see it by myself on Saturday at noon in 2d. So disappointing
greeneyedsoul Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Just came back and wheew. It was great. Loved every minute, the ending was great. Can't wait for part 2. 1
robattack332 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) Wow, glad to see the best picture conversation warming up. I've never seen the show before and thought it was just a comedy going in. Talk about wiplash! I thought my jaw fell off during Ari's opening. Everyone involved in this was firing on all cylinders. Bravo And as someone who grew up on Wizard of Oz, I loved connecting all the references. They actually did it well without ever making it cheesy. Edited November 27, 2024 by robattack332 1

But I still see it's total being around the numbers of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which did 300M in the US and 150M outside the US. https://www.the-numbers.com/movie/Beetlejuice-Beetlejuice-(2024)#tab=box-office Maybe the fact that this is thanksgiving week, it will add another 50M in the US? could be. But I don't see it pass 350M US + 200M outside TBH $400-450M is looking more likely for the domestic total. Your predictions are v. off. 5
TheMusicProphet Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Holy Smokes!! What an incredible musical. ND I really don't care for musicals. Gooped!!! 1
Julián Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 That opening number was such a STATEMENT from Ariana. Just incredible. I've seen it twice already and would go again 5

Jude Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 'Wicked' finally crossed $200M at the WW boxoffice in less than a week. Also, it's the event of the year in the UK as... As a longtime Arianator, I'm so proud of Ariana. 2
Jude Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 And then someone commented "something has changed within you" 4
Migs30283 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Saw Wicked yesterday and it was amazing. Everything was perfection. Ariana should win an Oscar next year. Period. 4
Jude Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 (edited) Apparently, Ariana growling "right" in popular was an improv. She posted a video on TikTok saying she didn't remember she did that line while being filmed. Edited November 28, 2024 by Jude 2
