I think it's about the wizard of oz. Just going to see Ariana It essentially acts as a prequel of sorts to Wizard of Oz. Enjoy! Edited Sunday at 10:31 PM by Blue Monday 2

It was a levitation spell, which throughout the movie is what Madame Morrible is training her to do (to practice levitating the coin). Spoiler Sorry I think I worded that poorly - I guess my point is that if Morrible knows Elphaba has a strong affinity towards animal kind why does Morrible knowingly coerce Elphaba into doing an act of animal cruelty since presumably that'd piss Elphaba off - unless Morrible also didn't expect the transformation to look uncomfortable?
Pink Ranger Posted Sunday at 11:02 PM Posted Sunday at 11:02 PM It hasn't even launched in all global markets yet so I wouldn't count the global totals to be that disastrous going forward. this will end in the $600-$700 range hopefully then if the second performs the same then as a franchise pulling in over 1B it will be extremely profitable. 2

fridayteenage Posted Sunday at 11:09 PM Posted Sunday at 11:09 PM Jon chu in an Interview for this indicated he has no idea when he might feel like doing crazy rich Asians 2. That put him on the map as a real filmmaker but I can see hes high on big budget music films for the foreseeable future. Hope we get more Asian centered major studio films meanwhile...
Mr. Duff Posted Sunday at 11:13 PM Posted Sunday at 11:13 PM Just watched it with no expectations, I'm surprisingly amazed! Ariana is a revelation! She's brilliant here, really delivered! I am rooting for her to get an Oscar nom, she deserves it! Cynthia as usual is excellent, and she did my favorite scene of the movie. She's outstanding, I got teary in a lot of her scenes. She deserves all the praises! Jonathan Bailey is also someone we should praise. The charisma and presence - he's oozing with confidence. And the dancing, damn didn't know he can dance superbly. He carried in the dance scenes! Overall a great movie. I still feel it dragged in some pieces but just really solid overall.

My understanding is this - Spoiler I don't think she knew that would happen, no one did. Remember, no one can read the grimoirie, not the wizard (who's a fraud) nor morrible (she barely knows a few words herself). The people who did write the book died many years ago, as described by the song Kristen & Idina sing in their cameo (on the soundtrack as well). As a result, the effects of the book are unknown until cast... They thought it would be an easy spell cast with no harm to the monkeys and they can secretly then use them as spies across Oz, but the horrible transformation and Elphaba's reaction to it was unforseen.
artc0cx Posted Monday at 02:39 AM Posted Monday at 02:39 AM (edited) I watched it tonight and its a masterpiece, the ending left me craving for more Hope Cynthia and Ariana win an oscar for her acting or for Defying Gravity, that ending wow i got goosebumps 😭 Edited Monday at 02:45 AM by artc0cx 6

Jude Posted Monday at 04:03 AM Posted Monday at 04:03 AM Apparently a 15% drop on a Sunday is great (Frozen 2 dropped 23%) and is an indication of good legs. Expected to cross $200M domestically next weekend. 8
Bhabylon Posted Monday at 04:17 AM Posted Monday at 04:17 AM Loved the movie so much, I had to watch it twice Even better a second time. Bowen Yang though lowkey is the worst part of the film. Like he's acting like he's in a different movie than everyone else.

Elusive Chanteuse Posted Monday at 04:44 AM Posted Monday at 04:44 AM You guys hate gay men in media. Bowen got laughs at my show. LOL I need to watch this again if I get the chance. 12 1
