toast Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 (edited) People acting like this underperformed since it's only #3 of the year need to remember that parents with kids (inside out 2) + straight people (deadpool) outnumber the girls & gays. Edited November 24, 2024 by toast

Yeah I think people assumed that this movie's audience was gonna be children heavy for some reason? I don't know why I kept seeing so many people - especially film bros - calling it a kids movie just because it's PG I guess. I didn't see a single kid in my Friday night showing. The audience for this was always gonna be adult women and gays. Kids don't know Wicked. 1

Rotunda Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 I came in kinda skeptical based on the online clips, but the movie was great overall and I thought Ariana smashed it. I did have one question while watching: Spoiler If Morrible is aware of Elphaba's affinity for animals, why isn't more done to indoctrinate her into thinking talking animals are bad, and why is the first spell they try to get her to do in the Emerald City an act of animal cruelty?
Jotham Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 I actually like that there wasn't a post-credit scene, but this would've been such a slayage. 1
Thuggin Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Spoiler Btw did anyone else else literally JUMP in their seat when the monkey slammed against the window? I don't know why that got me so bad. I'm not even an easily startled person 5 3
Material Girl Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 movie was amazing, everything i wanted it to be and ariana surpassed my expectations 3

Even for just that brief scene. 7 hours ago, Saintlor said: Ariana's vocals were phenomenal but I was disappointed with her acting. Felt like I was watching Cat Valentine with blonde hair. Girl I understand you have a reputation and have to keep your streak of terrible takes going, but cmon 9

Spoiler Not sure about the first half of your question, but as for the spell, Elphaba isn't aware its going to be an act of animal cruelty. It was a levitation spell, which throughout the movie is what Madame Morrible is training her to do (to practice levitating the coin).
