People were getting upset, the staff were not communicating at all what was going on. They came out at 7:15 to tell us they were having technical issues and the film "might" play in 15-20 minutes. People started losing their minds. One girl stood up and tried to get the crowd to sing Defying Gravity but no one was biting. She went on for way too long before sitting down, only to try again like 10 minutes later and that flopped too, poor girl. ***** was this your showing 5

Slate Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 I loved this, such a heartwarming and powerful movie. Maybe I'm biased but Ariana completely stole the show for me. I couldn't take my eyes off her 3 2
Aristocrat Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Have been so excited for this since the minute Ari was announced, and I knew the entire time that everybody doubting her (and doubting the movie in general) would eat their words, so I'm relishing in all the WINNING seen it twice so far and it's so perfect. Can't stop listening to the soundtrack. Idk how they expect us to wait a whole other year for part two, I need it NOW. 3 3
Jude Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Omfg, my two most favorite films of the year did that! 1
50thStateofMind Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 if there are any annoying ass MFers singing in my sunday showing I will RIOT
squishy Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Does anyone know what Glinda says in the film version of "What is this Feeling" after the "oh" (which im obsessed with) during the line "We don't need to show a bias"
Miss Anthropocene Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 I'm lost for words, the ending was fantastic and left the cinema smiling all the way home. Cynthia and Ari had great chemistry you could tell they were besties on set everyday. Only have to wait until Tuesday for my 2nd showing 5 1
Jotham Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Man... that was so good. I'm already making plans to see it again. That film blew me away and is easily my favorite movie of 2024. I was skeptical how having two parts was gonna work, but this movie was so phenomenal. Even though the movie is 2 hours and 30 minutes it didn't feel like it. If there's one minor gripe I have about the movie, I found Glinda's "sidekicks" to be a little annoying. At least they were only there for a couple of scenes. 1 1
KasioKas Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Fantastic film. The girls are a lil dramatic in the interviews but it's a fully realised story and so true to the play. No flaws really, everyone played their parts well, it really is well casted. Couldn't help but have a beaming smile seeing Ari doing so well as a long time fan, she was so charsimatic She stole a lot of scenes but cynthia held her own and the final act was hers and hers alone, so well done and sung. The sets as well were all brilliant, the emerald city introduction scene was stellar, I wish we spent more time with them touring the city before they went to the wizard! 2 1
Hector Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Just saw the movie. It was fantastic! This movie proved that the heart and soul of the movie lies in the dynamic and chemistry of Cynthia and Ariana. Both were fantastic! Ariana was born to play this role, she personified Glinda perfectly. She was delightful and charming and Cynthia gave an internalized yet powerful and enigmatic performance as Elphaba. Her Wizard & I, Defying Gravity, and basically anytime she and Ariana harmonized together were 10/10 moments. Loved the supporting cast of Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, and Bowen Yang. This movie deserves Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Actress (note, I am aware Cynthia's not a lock by any means there), Best Supporting Actress, Production Design, Costume Design (an easy win), Hair & Makeup, and Visual Effects. Loved it, such a powerful visual delight, especially the musical numbers and the choreography. And set the film up perfectly for part 2 next November. Can't wait for that 3 1
Communion Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Kinda screamed when a "notice - singing is not allowed" message appeared on screen (and narrated by Jeff Goldbum?) at my theatre before the movie starred. 6 1
goldenrainbow222 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Great movie. My favorite scene by far was the dance scene; if I were an emotional person I would've bawled my eyes out. The only other time I've felt that kind of emotion was during 'Miss Celie's Blues' in the original Color Purple. So much vulnerability and it was executed flawlessly. Cynthia is an extraordinary talent and Ari really has that it factor. I wish I cared more for the music, but the cinematography and vocals were incredible. 2

Ivan_brit Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Just saw it & it was really good, I love it Ariana & Cynthia did an amazing job, saw it in Spanish still was amazing! 2

family.guy123 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Did the movie reference the SpongeBob meme like an MCU FILM? 1
Jude Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 The audience have spoken. Go watch it of you haven't yet! 8
Jude Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 They said it was close to getting A+ but I guess being a part 1 and almost 3 hours affected its chances. Regardless this is amazing! This will have some good legs at the cinema. 3
