ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted Friday at 01:24 PM ATRL Moderator Posted Friday at 01:24 PM Absolutely loved it. I... Ugh, so much fun and such a magical experience to watch it in a theater. We got lucky, no one was singing along or anything like that. Everyone was completely mesmerized (people clapped when the film ended they loved it so much ). 5
Tusk Posted Friday at 01:40 PM Posted Friday at 01:40 PM The soundtrack is a hot mess. Muffled sounds. Disjointed editing. You can definitely tell they took from multiple sources. This is what happened when it's live singing on set. 1 8 1

They recorded and produced (by Stephen Schwartz; multi-Oscar and Grammy award winning songwriter/producer) it before they even started filming. Maybe it's time to trade in your AliExpress headphones. 5

I can understand the critiques between the speaking and vocal parts. That's usually an issue with soundtracks like this. But I don't personally think it's that stark of a contrast. 1

Smilers Posted Friday at 03:38 PM Posted Friday at 03:38 PM planning to see this in theatre for Ari but is it needed to watch Wizard of Oz first? or its a standalone thing?

It's technically the prequel so tbh not really. You can always watch it after if you want to continue to scratch the Oz itch 1 1
SoldierofLove Posted Friday at 04:11 PM Posted Friday at 04:11 PM 'Wicked' Awesome $19M+ In Week's Previews; 'Gladiator II' Storming $6.5M Thursday Night That number for the Jon M. Chu directed, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande starring feature take of the Broadway Musical is comprised of Monday and Wednesday fan screenings, plus yesterday's previews which began at 2PM. Broken down: Monday Amazon Prime screenings generated $2.5M at 750 theatres in the US. Wednesday advance screenings grossed another $5.7M from 2,000 theatres in the US and Canada. Standard previews yesterday at 3,300 theatres, yielded a total Thursday gross of $11M. Just in terms of pure advance cash, Wicked is just under the $23M preview cash of Disney's 2019 The Lion King, and Warner Bros.' Barbie at $22.3M (that gross from both Wednesday and Thursday shows), and it's way ahead of Disney's 2017 live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast ($16.3M). Updated gut from tracking this AM on Wicked is $120M+. https://deadline.com/2024/11/box-office-wicked-gladiator-ii-1236184897/ 3
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted Friday at 04:12 PM ATRL Moderator Posted Friday at 04:12 PM I do think it would have been next level if they recorded a proper soundtrack to coincide with the live film soundtrack but that’s just me being Greedy.mp4 everyone sounds marvelous regardless 1
