I'm predicting $600M worst case scenario, $750M best Yeah I agree. It would be fantastic if it did $1B but this isn't a 4 quadrant movie that would get it to $1B easily. I'm cautiously thinking it'll be around $700M give or take. I think the floor is $600M and the ceiling is $800M and Wicked will be somewhere around there in the middle.
KKW Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 What Is This Feeling? is just so good especially when you see the entire musical number like they ate omg 3

vuelve88 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Movie praised Ariana praised Cynthia praised We love musicals again
thedeathbymusic Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Cynthia really gave sooo much depth to Elphaba I can't even imagine someone else playing this role before or after her. she knocked it out of the park. Ariana is showbiz. like I couldn't believe my eyes watching her sing NOMTW, her acting, her comedic timing and she literally bodied Popular and ELEVATED IT!?!?! the ending of it she popped tf OFF I can see why they're crying every interview. they gave there all and fully committed to these roles and not only lived up to these two iconic roles but also elevated them and made them something NEW. 8

People should remember this is still a musical which is not a popular genre, and sometimes off-putting for many, at this age. Even with an amazing WOM, many people will still be turned-off when they hear this as a musical (and a part 1 only film). Experts say this only needs around $400M to breakeven anyway, so if this at least surpass $500M I'm sure Universal will be happy with the profit they will get from it, not to mention part 2 might become more successful.
SoldierofLove Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 I just watched it tonight I haven't watched a movie at the theatre in a loooooong time but I just had to go for Wicked! Everyone deserves all of the praise that they're getting. I had reservations about Ariana but she nailed it. Everyone in the theatre found her hilarious. Cynthia blew me away. What a performance! Whew I may need to see this again soon! 4
James_Dean Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 You guys, this was excruciatingly good the wait for part 2 is going to kill me 1

Jude Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Tbh, I always thought all of us know about the cameo.
stevenisFADING Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 I saw it again after seeing it yesterday. This time I accidentally chose a 3D showing which I do NOT recommend but I almost cried more this time. lol. The Wizard and I lyrics finally clicked to me.

wren Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 The movie was so good. Cynthia and Ariana both did incredible - they each brought so much to their roles. Wow. Truly floored, will be seeing again. Entire movie was essentially flawless.
montacelo Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Just got back from watching it, I absolutely loved it. Ariana did so well
XAMJ Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Okay as a non musical fan I loved it - still too much singing for my taste but Ariana and Cynthia ate! Ari is coming for that Oscar win

Not even a casual fan of the OG Broadway show but it was nice of them to include them in the movie.
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted November 22, 2024 ATRL Moderator Posted November 22, 2024 Absolutely loved it. I... Ugh, so much fun and such a magical experience to watch it in a theater. We got lucky, no one was singing along or anything like that. Everyone was completely mesmerized (people clapped when the film ended they loved it so much ). 5
Tusk Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 The soundtrack is a hot mess. Muffled sounds. Disjointed editing. You can definitely tell they took from multiple sources. This is what happened when it's live singing on set. 1 8 1
