So far the main complaints I've seen seem to be about the cinematography. I barely even see anyone complaining about the length either. Most of the critics said it flew by and especially picked up in the last hour.

Cynthia and Ariana seem to be getting praise as well as the music numbers :clap3: I wonder if now that reviews seem good if this is locked for a $100M+ opening

I saw it last night. It was really good. I hate musicals and definitely was annoyed at a lot of the songs, but the ones that hit, HIT.

The movie is super well done. Visually stunning with great acting with the entire cast, especially Ariana and Cynthia. Be prepared though because it is really long... and short at the same time.

I'm really excited for Part 2. I went into it having almost no knowledge of Wicked, so I hope to maintain that level of ignorance until next year when I see Part 2 :duca:

I've seen some say Oscar nom for Ariana

I don't think I'd go that far. She did a good job, but not oscar worthy imo.

Eh, the critics score is less biased, so let's wait for that one

Although honestly the Letterboxd scores always seem more reliable. Maybe it'll be around 3.5 there, which is pretty good

letterboxd at 4.3 :rip: megasmash incoming

Incredible! I can't wait to see it. Never seen the musical, don't know the story so this will all be new to me.

I think this will settle in the low 70s on MC and in the mid 80s on RT

Pretty good all things considered

Currently at 74 from 12 reviews on MC

I've been a lifelong fan of Wicked, but the film did not look good to me. From the casting choices, to the cinematography and Disney coded aesthetic, I was really skeptical. But I have a friend who's in it and saw it last night and was blown away. Tears in my eyes from the first song. Exceeded my expectations and is genuinely one of the best films. The audience was a mix of families with kids, and Wicked fans and EVERYBODY was leaving the theatre singing the songs. The moment it ended, I could've rewatched the whole thing again.

Everybody go see this, and see it in a premium theatre if you can.

Tbh I didn't expect this to do so well with critics because the visual effects on the trailer looked kinda bad.

But it looks great on the final promo pictures and videos.

But the internet told me this will flop and be panned because of bad lighting
