Funhouse Posted November 14 Posted November 14 It would be sooo satisfying is this movie actually becomes a critical and commercial success. People have been absolutely miserable about it for years but I've always been a believer 6
ariananext Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Got my tickets for opening night, exactly 7 days, feels like yesterday when they announced it and it seemed so far. I'm insanely excited and trying to avoid all the long promo videos they're posting because I don't want to get there having seen half of the thing already. 4

Because it'll make Joker 2 look even more like a horrible musical box office bomb. OGHs can't help themselves, huh
kimberly Posted November 14 Posted November 14 So excited for this! Opening weekend is nearly sold out here — me and my friends got tickets for Thanksgiving weekend (hoping families & children will opt for Moana).
Gaia Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Highly doubt this is aiming for 1b gross as a musical. It's giving the same overestimations of the Eras Tour by way overestimation based on pre-sales due to large fanbase. This is one of the most popular musicals. Lots of theater lovers will go see it early but that does not guarantee stability. 3
50thStateofMind Posted November 14 Posted November 14 got my tickets for opening weekend!!! Havenʻt pre-ordered movie tickets in a LONG time. I hate going to the movie theater.

ctlp27 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I'm excited to see it mostly because he did such a great job with In The Heights, so I believe he will be able to translate into cinema a musical again. 1
Augmented Posted November 15 Posted November 15 The amount of hate this movie has constantly been getting on social media for months is truly insane. Genuinely feels like everyday I see a new viral tweet or video essay dragging the film (that isn't even released yet) or nitpicking every single piece of promo that's released to high heaven I won't even go into the genuine weird reactions to Cynthia and Ariana promoting the film during press interviews because 7
ariananext Posted November 15 Posted November 15 The NY premiere was so underwhelming compared to the others, I wonder why they kept it so lowkey
Pineapple Posted November 15 Posted November 15 i can't wait to watch this ive been such a big fan of the broadway show for years :')

I've never seen a movie get so torn apart before it's even been released. I mean, of the less nasty drags, their newest complaint is that Ariana isn't wearing enough blush. Literally being incentivized to just find everything to complain about because social media has already decided they're rooting against the movie and hate the cast. A bunch of bandwagoners who can't think for themselves. Will make it all the more satisfying if the movie is a success. 1

They're just being self-righteous about every little move Ariana and Cynthia make. The movie is going to be a SLAY and they know it and they're just gonna dig their heels in and continue to be miserable about it. Let them! I'm gonna enjoy this movie I've been waiting 16 years for!! Lmaooo
Funhouse Posted November 15 Posted November 15 The movie doesn't come out here until December 5 and all the previews in my city are either in 3D or the horrendous ScreenX format... I think I'm just going to have to book for a 2D preview in a different city because the wait will be unbearable

Lmaooo They're already starting to pivot to the second movie lol. They're finally realising the first one will be a hit so the next cope will be the second one bombing.
