Vinyl Release Pushes Tyler, the Creator’s ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’ Back to No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart

The set scores the largest week for a hip-hop album on vinyl in the modern era.

Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated April 30), as the set’s release on vinyl LP prompts its jump from No. 120 to No. 1. It’s the album’s second nonconsecutive week atop the list; it debuted at No. 1 on the July 10, 2021-dated chart.

Call Me earned 59,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending April 21 (up 507%), according to Luminate, formerly MRC Data. Of that sum, 51,000 were in traditional album sales — almost entirely vinyl LP sales.

The vinyl edition of Call Me was sold exclusively through the artist’s webstore and sold 49,500 copies, making it the largest sales week for a hip-hop album on vinyl, or for a solo male album on vinyl, since Luminate began tracking music sales in 1991.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new April 30, 2022-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on April 26. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.

Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Returns to No. 1 on Hot 100, Morgan Wallen’s ‘Don’t Think Jesus’ Debuts in Top 10

Styles scores his first multi-week Hot 100 leader, after "Watermelon Sugar" led for a frame in 2020.

Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” rebounds to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. It launched at the summit two weeks earlier and dipped to No. 2 in its second week.

Styles claims his first multi-week Hot 100 No. 1, after his prior leader, “Watermelon Sugar,” reigned for a week in August 2020.

Meanwhile, Latto‘s “Big Energy,” at No. 4 on the Hot 100, becomes the most heard song on U.S. radio, taking over atop the Radio Songs chart.

Plus, Morgan Wallen‘s “Don’t Think Jesus” soars in at No. 7 on the Hot 100, marking his third top 10, all of which have debuted in the tier. It opens as the week’s best-selling track, atop the Digital Song Sales chart.

The Weeknd’s hits compilation The Highlights bounces 60-8 with 27,000 equivalent album units earned (up 92%). Meanwhile, his After Hours album, which re-entered the chart at No. 35 a week ago, falls off the chart. The two albums share four songs (“Blinding Lights,” “Save Your Tears,” “In Your Eyes” and “Heartless”). On the latest chart, the TEA and SEA units for the four songs contribute to The Highlights, as a song’s activity is assigned to the artist’s album with the most sales in a week. (The Highlights sold a little over 1,000 copies in the latest tracking week, while After Hours sold less than 1,000.) A week ago, the TEA and SEA for the four songs were directed to After Hours (which in that frame outsold The Highlights). In turn, with the songs’ activity contributing to The Highlights, the album rises 60-8.

This f*cking mess. :deadbanana:

i still find it weird that billboard only counts sales for vinyl and cd when it ships because it means that the chart isn’t showing the most popular album that week, but the album that shipped that people bought months ago.

It was necessary though, i guess

Abel is an idiot for that GH album, he could’ve had the best selling or one of the best selling albums of the decade but now the numbers are basically going one week to AH and another to Highlights :toofunny3:

The more and more I see the numbers ping-ponging, the more I believe "The Highlights" should've just been a compilation of all of The Weeknd's marquee remixes, with "Save Your Tears Remix" and maybe the Die For You SZA remix as the promo singles to push the project post Super-bowl.

Ideally:

Save Your Tears RMX w/ Ariana Grande (New Material)

Die For You RMX Feat. SZA (Unreleased Material - probably would've organically taken off on Tiktok)

Can't Feel My Face (Martin Garrix Mix)

The Hills RMX Feat. Nicki Minaj

The Hills RMX Feat. Eminem

Starboy (KYGO Mix)

Reminder RMX (Feat. Young Thug & A$AP Rocky)

In Your Eyes RMX (Feat. Doja Cat)

In Your Eyes RMX (Feat Kenny G)

Heartless RMX (Feat. Lil Uzi Vert)

Blinding Lights RMX (Feat. Rosalia)

Blinding Lights (Chromatic Mix)

Blinding Lights (Major Lazer Mix)

i wonder, what happens if two albums have the same exact sales and share some songs.

which one gets the streaming points?

obviously this situation is not too likely, but weeknd for example is selling around 1k of each which is pretty low, so i could see it happening as sales die more each year.

Weeknd is actually very smart for Greatest Album thing.

His Greatest Album will have top 20 residency for years. AH ran it course, it was not going to get another week in top 10.

Also the week are not even, its 7 week for GH and 1 week for AH, with time passing AH will even stop getting that week. He basically secured himself one of the best selling album of decade with GH.

I would support an Olivia streaming party during the whole week just to keep Morgan Wallen away from the top spot.

congrats to the homophobe at #1!!
