GreatestLoveofAll Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 I know a large portion of ATRL doesnt really trust Chartmasters as a source, but in reality they seem to be the closest to what we have imo plus the accuracy of the ranking cant really be denied if we take into context the ever shifting music scene this century has seen in just 21/22 years. Only artists or groups/duos who have released their debut album after 2000 will be included. That means Britney, Christina and Destiny's Child- out but Justin, Beyonce and Coldplay are in. Without further ado. 1. Taylor Swift- 112,260,000 EAS 2. Drake- 110,940,000 3. Rihanna- 106,146,000 4. Coldplay- 104,879,000 5. Adele- 94,853,000 6. Justin Bieber- 93,957,000 7. Linkin Park- 88,652,000 8. BTS- 86,429,000 9. Beyonce- 85,619,000 10. Ed Sheeran- 80,617,000 11. Maroon 5- 75,685,000 12. Lady Gaga- 72,818,000 13. P!nk- 69,983,000 14. Bruno Mars- 66,433,000 15. One Direction- 55,738,000 16. Katy Perry- 54,443,000 17. Ariana Grande- 53,193,000 18. Justin Timberlake- 52,592,000 19. Norah Jones- 52,290,000 20. Alicia Keys- 51,690,000 21. The Weeknd- 50,705,000
Gerardo Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Ariana top 15 soon considering the current #15 and #16 aren’t selling much
gustavothehuman Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 #1. Taylor Swift (#1 among female artists) #4. Coldplay (#1 among groups) My faves remain unmatched
C-Amber Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Why anyone will ever trust them lmao their methods are so questionable, they don't even calculate all artists around the world.
Rev8 Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 So Beyonce IS a 00s artist They rly need to tone down their streaming impact on the formula anyways feels like a lot of them should be in a different position

Cloröx Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Taylor will jump to 117-118M once CM updates his formula regarding China sales and adding 2-2.5M pure sales since the last update (May 2021) She will pass Babra and Whitney for sure and coming for Mariah too

Artists get added to the list as soon as they get analyzed. If you remove the Others column from each album and take off the Orphans section altogether I think the numbers are pretty accurate.
zoldyck Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 seems fairly accurate. Except for BTS who at least don't feel as big as their stats indicate, at least to me. Also Ed, who I believe should be much higher but he will get there.

Mediatraffic really is kinda trash though, they only count what? 25, 30 countries? Very few from Asia. It doesn't give us a full picture.
Bey_Rihstan Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 (edited) Chris Brown should be here, no? EDIT: oh wait… is this albums? Nvm Edited April 23, 2022 by Bey_Rihstan

I Did It Again, Survivor were released in this century. Most of them broke record in sales...

K bye for now, Sunshine. <3 Beyoncé as a solo artist debuted this century, but if y'all want to count The Carters among her releases just because it bombed, why can't the Beyhive include Destiny's Child due to their success? It was a group she was in as well. It's not that deep. Edited April 23, 2022 by gustavothehuman

They are the biggest act from the past 5 years in all East-Southeast Asia by very faaaaaar. They are in The Beatles/MJ tier in those countries.

dussel_06 Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 So we trust Chartmasters now since Taylor is now no. 1. I-
