I have a question but I'll put it in spoilers just in case

I see that the character Aegon II is only listed as a recurring character while the civil war is between him and his half sister Rhaenyra. Could it be that the actual war will be happening in a later season and he will take a more prominent role?

Yes. Later seasons.

I think we'll only see him be born in the first half of the season and then as a kid + teenager in the second half. There's many timeskips this season.

For the first 5 episodes, we will see Alicent (Aegon II's mom) and Rhaenyra as teenagers, then the 5 last episodes will be Alicent/Rhaenyra as adults.

We know that information because the two actress playing young Alicent/young Rhaenyra are credited for the first 5 episodes.

Thank you so much for the answer! :alexz3:

As the last episode is supposedly called The Black Queen I guess

Rhaenyra will be coronated in the season finale and then the sh*t storm starts

I am very curious and not sure if this comes off as insensitive, but how would awards ceremonies recognize Emma D'Arcy when they identify as non-binary? Would they submit under Actress categories or what do we think? I just thought of awards potential for this show and that popped into my head.

Yes, it will happen in further seasons, although I'm really intrigued about how will end up the first season. I mean, in which scene they will make a cut

I think they usually just ask the actor which category they want to be nominated in

Everything I've seen of this looks breathtakingly good, I feared it might flop all things considered but now I think even the biggest detractors of the GoT finale will be tuning in :clownny:

Im avoiding all trailers/clips but all the thumbnails and posters look so good :jonnycat:

I´m actually playing Horizon - Forbidden West an its aesthetic remind me a lot of GoT

That medieval atmosphere, deep music, darkness all around. The hype is there for me lol

I can't stop thinking that there is a gay porn actor who looks exactly like Christon Cole's actor. I'm sick.

Ok I'm actually really perched for this show:clownny:

They kinda did the male Targaryens really dirty

The way Viserys (Daenaerys's brother) will end up remaining as the hottest Targaryen portrayed on screen:lakitu:

So apparently the first episode is a masterpiece and will leave us all SHOOK :jonny5:

I just finished reading Fire And Blood and WOW.  I am even more hyped for this show than I already was.  And knowing that George and Miguel are at the helm and will be adapting the book so faithfully gives me such hope.

There are so many things I'm excited to see play out on screen.  This show honestly has the potential to make many of GOT's most shocking moments look tame.

And I think it's really cool that this will be the "definitive" story.  I actually love Fire And Blood's approach of having three "sources" (Mushroom, the Septon, and the Maester) that sometimes contradict each other, and then the reader has to extrapolate to figure out the truth.  I hope they cast Mushroom.  He could be a great comic relief character.

And lastly, just like with GOT, I am so excited to see so many bad ******* on the screen all at once.  We already have Rhaenys, Mysaria, and Baela confirmed.  In subsequent seasons I NEED

Black Aly, Nettles, Samantha Tarly, Sabitha Frey, and Alys Rivers.

I'm a big GoT fan, but not that familiar with all the Targaryen history.

When this spinoff was confirmed, I briefly read what storylines would be featured

But I've forgotten most of that by now, and I'm glad that I can now go in somewhat blind :jonny:

Been avoiding all teasers and trailers but I'm really excited now that it is finally around the corner

i wonder why HBO refuses to do a tv show about Aegon's conquest (or Robert's rebellion)... I feel like it would make more sense to cover that story first and THEN do Fire & Blood.

The conquest is their next show after 4 seasons. I think it will be another version of House of the Dragon.

oh is it? because i didn't read anything official about that. I read they rejected the project about Robert (i don't get it) but nothing was announced about that.

the other 3 projects in development confirmed weren't about the Targaryens either.

this is all i could find on google related to that:

Per THR, one of those initial failed Game of Thrones projects put into development has now been revealed. The series by Demimonde showrunners Rand Ravich and Far Shariat focused on Aegon I Targaryen's conquest of Westeros. With the help of his sisters and their dragons, Aegon conquered six of the seven kingdoms, with only Dorne successfully holding them back. However, the script reportedly portrayed Aegon I as a "drunken lout."

They said that after they finish this storyline about the Dance of Dragons (around season 3 or 4) that they might turn House of the Dragon into an anthology show about various eras of Targaryen history. Including most likely Aegon's Conquest.

mmm i'd prefer a show with another name or a high budget trilogy of movies for that.

that's exactly what I said when they suggested that in the article. do a limited series (which is a 1 season show), don't switch up the show into an anthology series after a few seasons, it's a cheap move.

i don’t think Aegon’s Conquest is that much interesting tbh.

Spoiler

yes it would be very cool to watch especially with Balerion but it’s just 3 white-haired people burning cities to the ground, the only house/kingdom they had to actually deal with is Martell/Dorne. His succession ain’t that interesting either (maybe a live action Visenya could be the new Cersei but then Maegor’s reign would just be extreme violence and -violent- sex).

Personally I want HOTD to be just about the Dance and leave it as planned. Then we can have other spin-offs which can include dragons and Targs but not be all about that family.

I'm already shipping members of the cast, f*** me! :clownny:
