That was a good ass episode, it's really too bad about Daemon's meandering in Harrenhal bringing it down somewhat.

I really really like the actor playing Gwayne, he imbued his one scene with a lot of different emotional beats. That's talent.

Mysaria, finally someone is doing something :clap3:  and doing it well

How are they gonna fit Vermithor and Silverwing in these last two episodes though, and it looks like the dragon at the Vale is Sheepstealer or did I interpret that wrong. Anywho Rhaena is gonna have to make a move for it QUICK or else she gets shipped off to Pentos

Cut Daemon atp :noparty: look if you want to shove him up our asses every episode ok, but make it one scene. 3 or 4 scenes were not needed at all. I stan Alys tho (for now). Lets see what happens now that useless mummy of Grover Tully is gone.

Seasmoke the beast that you are :jonny5: when he landed next to Addam omfg thats AN ENTRANCE babe!!!! Cant wait for the scene with Rhaenyra and Syrax!

Thank the Seven for Mysaria tbh. The Blacks would be cooked af if it wasn't for her. Also I called the lesbian scene last week when I saw a still of them together lmaooo I had no idea it was gonna come true. They fit perfectly tho…

Overall great episode. Idc they're slower. What bothers me is the 8-episode season and the damn Harrenhal plot that goes nowhere.

Also I will never feel bad for Alicent :ahh: you'll see your children perish before your own eyes just like Cersei cause you're a terrible mother :coffee2:

I hate Larys but I'm glad he's "helping" Aegon cause I can't stand Aemond's patched eye mewing face. Miss Otto Jenner gonna be like oh so NOW you require my services? but will accept the job cause the devil works hard but a manager works harder.

The most fanfastical element of the show is how the young children are always shown playing quietly, instead of storming around the castles screaming bloody murder :foxaylove3:

If they're making changes, why don't they give Miss Dreamfyre something to do?

Dreamfyre being the second biggest claimed dragon but isn't being shown/used is kinda frustrating but apparently that's how it is in F&B too (they can def show scenes of Halaena and Dreamfyre though)

Exactly, if this was a 10 episode season leading up to:

  Hide contents

E8: Gullet

E10: King's Landing

I think it would be VERY well received.  Knowing that we're only getting one of those things, IF THAT, means that the GP will most likely remember this season as "boring."

i'm sorry but this sounds like GOT S7/8. we need character development. if it's missing we get the mess that we got in the last seasons of GOT

Spoiler

there are many things that happen between those battles. there are other battles that happen in the meantime. the sowing of the seeds is not something that lasts a couple of days, but a long period of time. you can't fit all those things in just two episodes. I agree that the season should've had 10 episodes, but it could've been something like:

E8: battle in Riverlands they're setting up for this episode

E9: aftermath and setting the next episode up

E10: the Battle of the Gullet, which would end with Rhaenyra losing her son and heir and being a parallel to the S1 ending

there's like three battles between the Gullet and the King's Landing only in Riverlands and there's one introducing Daeron in the Reach. I know they wouldn't show all of them on screen (they are focusing on one battle in Riverlands and moving it before the Gullet), but you just can't focus only on the battles in three episodes and don't pay any attention to the characters. If people want faster pace, they are free to scroll TikTok or watch S8 of GOT

Sure, this sounds even better, as long as we actually get these battles.  I have a horrible suspicion that they're going to get the Burning Mill treatment where we don't see a single second of actual fighting.  It seems like Condal and Co are saving all their money for dragon scenes.

Would love to be proven wrong though.

we haven't seen majority of the battles in earlier GOT

plus if we had the Burning Mill on the screen, it would've been a non-event because we don't know any of the characters there. it would've only been cheep action. George's work is so good and beloved because of the characters, not the battles. the whole Brienne story in one of the books is wandering over Riverlands. if they were to adapt that, people would lose their mind more then they did with Daemon at Harrenhal

Some of that was definitely because of budget constraints, which aren't an excuse anymore.

Spoiler

They should have used the battle of Burning Mill to introduce Black Aly, Bloody Ben, and Kermit and Oscar Tully.  Like imagine the battle starting just like it did in the show, Amos slaying Willem, Aly immediately avenging her brother, a bit of fighting, then the Brackens retreating and these four new, badass characters all surviving to meet with Daemon afterwards.

Then instead of Daemon's neverending acid trip, we could have had more scenes of these Blackwoods and Tullys, further establishing their characters.

Another thing they should have done instead of Daemon's arc this season is had a few scenes in Oldtown with Otto training Daeron, a la Tyrion and Arya in GOT S2.  Would have been cheap to do, and would have established Daeron, added nuance to Otto, and made Alicent and Gwayne's convo in E6 even more poignant since we'd have SEEN Daeron being a good prince.

I agree that the characters were GOT's strongest point... and they're one of the weakest points here.  The hyperfixation on the Targaryens isn't working.  They're not likable and the GP still struggles to remember which is which and who is related to who and who is on what side.  I would argue that Aemond is the only one people like and find interesting.  Rhaenyra and Daemon - the two fan faves from S1 - are now seen as ineffectual and boring because of their (lack of) arcs this season.

This season also should have established Cregan and Jeyne Arryn as fan favorites, but instead we've barely seen them.

I still love the show (I'm the one defending it to my friends each week) but it could be so much better.  The last two episodes need to blow us out of the water.

Spoiler

it's hard to remember who are the main characters and what their relations are, but you expect viewers would understand the relations between Black Ally and Bloody Ben (who is not yet Bloody Ben at this point of the story) and KERMIT and Oscar Tully? people have no idea who Blackwoods are. I mean, I agree with a lot of the points, especially that they've done Cregan and Jeyne wrong. but to establish all those Blackwood and Tully characters it would take half an episode. it's just not doable in the short period of time people expect. on the other hand, in the books, Ben and Tully lads come into the story much later. there's no reason they would participate in a battle when their parents are alive

to do what you propose, they would need even more scenes and more characters talking. i mean, i would prefer it if they took their time with all of these people, but it's not possible to do if you wish many battles and a lot of action happening. if you wanted all those characters and the Battle of the Burning Mill, plus more Cregan and Jeyne, I think that it would take 10 episodes without adding anything they left for S3 (Gullet). i actually wish they did it, but it would not go as fast as people want it to go

and I don't agree with the Daeron point. they're mentioning him all the time. it makes you wait for him. they are giving you promises, and you're anticipating to meet him. they will introduce him next season when he has somethin to do. if they play it right, it could be a good pay-off
