They should move to final arguments. Rebuttal is an additional chance the plaintiff (or government for criminal cases) has to present new testimonies that refute the testimonies the defense has presented. Since THEY have the burden of proof, they get this last chance to make their case.

 

Amber's team is also running out of time. The time they have left will probably be used for the cross-examination of the rebuttal witnesses.

It's such a weird line of questioning.

 

Gal Gadot was fairly unknown until she was cast as Wonder Woman for Batman v Superman. She was just a side character but she got her own spin-off movie afterwards. There's no way of proving Mera wouldn't have gotten her own spin-off movie if Amber didn't have so much negative publicity around her. Both actresses are very comparable when it comes to their careers, with Amber having a slight edge because she had more experience prior to Aquaman. Once you're cast as the lead in one of this superhero films, you pretty much become an A-lister. But that would never happen now with all the negative publicity that resulted from Waldmann's comments and leaked audios.

Like it or not Amber was on the commercial rise with Aquaman! She also had some buzz under her name in the non blockbuster space.

Yes, his last few movies were absolute ****.

But the Fantasic Beast recast is a thing. Although he still got paid, I think.

And Disney dropping him from PotC. He's basically the embodiment of PotC and the movies were still making lots of money. But he got kicked out.

 

Depp was always lead. Even in his shitty movies. The movies were made with him in mind. And he earned lots of money per role, no matter how shitty the movie was.

Amber was a female side character in ONE popular movie. The movie had her in it, but she wasn't the main character and she didn't make the movie a succes.

 

Even in his flop era, Depp had more star power than Heard.

 

Amber's future succes based on ONE smash movie is speculation. Johnny got dropped by studio's. That's a fact.

He was dropped by WB AFTER he lost the UK case. He can't argue he lost that role because of Amber's op-ed and that's why they didn't bring it up. They keep talking about the Pirates 6 film, which still doesn't exist and was NEVER greenlighted. The Disney executive who testify said they decided that the SUMMER before Amber's op-ed was published, and the article they paid attention to wasn't Amber's op-ed but the famous Rolling Stone article.

 

So even if Depp can prove his career took a dip in recent years, he hasn't been able to prove to a reasonable standard that the op-ed was directly responsible. It's clear he had issues BEFORE they even separated and his work was slowing down. And now he can't even work not because of her op-ed but because he lost the UK trial and he's legally considered a wife-beater. He also lost a Houdini role after losing that trial, if memories serves.
