BGXKB Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I swear she’s doing the most basic dancehall sound… but she is doing it well.

She was sooo good without the major label interference. It's like her whole sound and identity is just gone. If she had a song/video like Rebel on her album. It would slay! This definitely doesn’t not sound like dancehall.

This definitely doesn’t not sound like dancehall. Your first post said this was a "basic dancehall sound". I was pointing out that this is not a "dancehall sound". Basic or otherwise. Not in the track or the delivery. The fact that Dancehall artists are being influenced by trap pop doesn't change that fact.

Hopefully, her career finds a little footing in the US. The first week receipts are horrible.

According to data provided to DancehallMag from Billboard’s sales tracker Luminate (formerly known as MRC DATA), Alpha’s total consumption from sales and streaming in the United States was 4,900 units during its first week of release. This includes 800 copies in pure album sales. The album’s total first-week consumption also included 2,000 copies in song sales, 4,616,400 in on-demand audio streams and 750,600 in on-demand video streams. These figures are rounded to the nearest 100, according to a Luminate representative.

This is definitely not her only audience even with Megan, 21, and Tyga for features.

Honestly I can’t at someone coming for me for calling something dancehall as if that’s not a compliment. The song is definitely more pop than most of the album. Wouldn’t call it one of my faves tho….
