Billionaire Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Great thread idea tbh A couple of thoughts: JLaw was a fad x2. Saorise Ronan is the greatest actress of our generation. The way Last Night in Soho was a BOMB Anya Taylor-Joy's popularity was clearly grossly overestimated It's not looking good for Amy Adams, panned bomb after panned bomb. She needs to pick better roles quickly. Viola deserves all the lashings for her performance as Michelle Kristen Stewart's career resurgence after Spencer is really refreshing to see And lastly Natalie Portman is a legend.

I don't really get the hype for her, what films should I watch so that I can get the hype around her?

I liked the performance at the time the film was released. But, when I have re-watched the movie, I have noticed Jennifer is really inconsistent.
Euterpe Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 I'm going to try to keep this thread alive. What actresses in TV and/or film do you think has promise for future projects? I think Jenna Ortega is making herself known in the horror genre, but can easily expand out while she slowly gets exposure. If not, I think she'll have a solid career.

I've always been fascinated with Annaleigh Ashford's career and think she's gonna gain a lot of notoriety with time. She started off doing Broadway in 2005, eventually landed a few smaller TV roles, won a Tony, and recently starred in the Ryan Murphy Impeachment series and is the lead on a CBS sitcom. Imo she's one HBO series or buzzy indie flick away from making a real name for herself. Similar to her, I've always been waiting for Audra McDonald to land a juicy part in an awards film. The good sis has 6 f*cking acting Tonys (the record) and is the only person to win one in every acting category I could see her pulling an Olivia Colman- very respected niche actress who suddenly gets thrust into the Hollywood A-list after her first Oscar season. She's incredibly likeable too.

It'd be interesting to see her continuing to build up, because it sounds like she has momentum (at least for television). I would love an Audra renaissance! She's amazing and has so much talent. I think you're on point. I could definitely see her getting the right acclaimed part to thrust her into awards films/season.
Billionaire Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Anne Hathaway having her "we love her again" moment, let's pray she doesn't completely waste her hype like Megan did

Seeing people realize/call out the hate-trains some celebs experienced in the past has been cathartic to some level... until they ruin it like Megan did. I was rooting for her and then instead of being smart, taking advantage of what is probably the last chance to do everything she can to get a bigger/better career for herself she just... fumbled everything. I get so mad thinking abt this lmao
