i kinda get where you’re coming from tbh, like its very bittersweet. i think she hates the parts of her previous albums that were more manufactured for the label. she briefly spoke about how this album is completely her without having the expectation of the public, radio or a label behind her.

so i think thats why she resents her previous work… not to excuse it though - cause I love everything else she has done and dislike when she shits on it too.

i love everything about this album. my only complaint - Carousel outro should have been a separate track

I'm enjoying everything so much.

Carousel is simply STUNNING. That outro feels like HEAVEN :cries:

As an OG Lykke stan I am in love with EYEYE. Great melodies and I love how she's "in your ear" with the vocal production and placement.

What I don't enjoy is the ssss hate. Y'all act like it was some outlandish project when its DNA was pure Lykke Li.

Queen has no bad album.

OT: The album is so good, it might become my favorite by the Queen I fear

5D literally WRECKED me the moment I woke up. I heard the album at the album listening event but it sounded very raw, whereas the version uploaded on streaming is more polished which I love

poor ha, she destroyed any chance she had at becoming a critical darling with SSSS

there's no reason that in this era of inflated MC scores this should be below 85

Some interesting interviews.

She talks about how she feels EYEYE is her best work, why she went so minimal with the production, how psychedelic therapy influenced and inspired the record (particularly ayahuasca), what the future holds for her etc.

I normally don’t buy into this but she does look like Gaga here

An acclaimed discography. Not many can have that to be fair

but it really turns me off when artists drag their own work (her w ssss). In one of the interviews she actually even said she would delete her whole discography aside from this album, INL, and I Follow Rivers

:biblio:

Im enjoying this album because I like everything she does but I definitely think it's her worst.

I have some thoughts.. first of all I’ll say I love Lykke Li, I will always support her. I’ve been here since Wounded Rhymes era and will always probably stan anything she puts out (I mean unless she really is retiring). However, first of all I really didn’t even think this was that far of a step off from ssss. The production is still much more polished and even electronic I would say than her first three albums which, stylistically can blend together and sound like they were recorded very lo-fi at some points. Second of all, it’s one thing for Stans to do it, but it really turns me off when artists drag their own work (her w ssss). In one of the interviews she actually even said she would delete her whole discography aside from this album, INL, and I Follow Rivers. Idk if she meant the track I Never Learn or the whole album but 1) that’s very poor taste of her, 2) it feels like an FU to fans who love her work, and 3) how can you call yourself a perfectionist and basically a gatekeeper of your own work but then **** on everything you’ve put out seconds later. Her interviews make her sound very pretentious, with her name dropping Marina Ambrovic and talking about ayuhasca (however you spell it) every chance she gets. We get it, you tripped while making this album :toofunny3: I actually love her and I really like the album, some of y’all did the most on it in the past few pages. But I think she is kind of out of touch and she needs to either go a diff route and not make music anymore (which it seems like she’s doing) or realize there needs to be some middle ground. when she talks about it it really seems like she felt like she was making a modern The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon album, like this was some amazing boundary pushing record and she needs to come off her pedestal and relax a little bc this was not that

Drag ha :bibliahh:

This album is better than sss and her first

not sure why she dislikes sss so much.  Does she consider that her sellout album

I’m obsessed with this album, what a body of work. Happy hurts and over are among her best

Posted (edited)

highway to your heart > over > carousel > you don't go away > 5d > happy hurts >>> no hotel > ü&i

i really liked this album - it feels like one long song which isn't bad in this case because that was probably her intention

People have been saying this for about 10 years. It was the most obvious during Wounded Rhymes
