Oh God, I just realised why the album is so short - it loops. The birds from No Hotel's intro are an extension of Ü&I's outro. She sings "baby rewind, take me back" because the story starts again.

The album trailer is one scene put on loop. The tracklist on the back cover is a circle. The album title is the same word repeated twice seamlessly.

Insiders can feel free to drag me if I'm wrong though nnn

oh wow

Potentially going to her album listening party tomorrow :WAP:

The listening party was SO good.

This album was truly an experience… from start to finish. Lykke was also super friendly and like no other artist i have ever come across.

She explained how the album is a loop, how she was obsessed with the number 33 (making the albums frequency 33.33hz as well as the length 33:33). Also explained why the album is called eyeye (reinforcing the loop theme) as well as truly being her most genuine work (eyeye = I). Said that the album name was “If Our Love Was A Movie” before “Eyeye”

She said the reason why this album took so long was because of the pandemic. She was adamant to not work on zoom. Most of the vocals on the album were made in just one take. She made the rule of every sound and second on the album would serve a purpose. No copy and pasting instruments or vocals (and you can truly tell she stuck to her word!). She said the visuals were the thing that took the longest as she kept adding small details.

She then kinda shat on So Sad So Sexy saying its not timeless in the slightest. She had to beg Bjorn to take her back and create this album with her after betraying him on so sad so sexy and doing everything he told her not to do.

Super sad to say she said she’s definitely retiring after this album… (but then made the joke of returning one day because this album is bound to be a flop). Though she sounded adamant about this being her final full length project.

Though, she said she wants to try and write for other artists, said Rihanna would be a dream.

If I had to rank the new tracks based on first listen:

5D (this track was truly stunning, i was in AWE!)

Happy Hurts

You Don’t Go Away
U&I
Carousel

Idk why I don't care about this album. I've always been so excited for her releases.

Sad to read about her retiring after this project..before she releases another stunning indie pop record (ala Youth Novels)

this will make me so sad so sexy if true. I hope she doesn't, but if she wants to and feels like it is best for her I will support :cries:

Omg not her both retiring and sh*tting on So Sad So Sexy :cries:

SSSS is literally a 6/10, it's fine but the worst in her disco by a longshot.

I'm guessing the new album is similar to I Never Learn

Posted

I don't believe her when she says she's retiring and I will definitely bop to the new album. :clap3:

Posted

Not her talking smack about SSSS and saying she plans to retire when she initially said, during its promo run, that SSSS gave her the energy/inspiration to never wanna quit :biblio:

“If Our Love Was A Movie”

rename it then! i'm sad she's retiring but i feel musicians never really retire, they love the craft and in some capacity will always do sth, just not as frequently

how did you get to the listening party? must have been so cool !

Queen mega spilled on SSSS, but I also don't think she will retire

#ThankYouBjorn btw

SSSS was a fun departure, i hate when artists crap over prior albums.  also i don't believe her either that she is retiring, i feel like for a lot of actual artists releasing an album is like giving birth and the last thing most women want right after giving birth is to get pregnant again... but give her a year and i'm sure she'll be back in the studio.

atrl's annoying SSSS stans LOST :cm:

got myself a ticket for her live show in October, can't wait :flame:

Crazy to hear that she's considering to retire... but she won't, just her same depressed self as always talking :toofunny2:

So ******* excited for this :jonny5:

Posted

SSSS music wise is also top notch despite her clear lack of energy in there which i understand why.

ah she always deliver and this will too.

Same, she's one of my faves, but this rollout has been so uneventful, isn't this coming out like this month? And it's basically crickets

i tried to listen to so sad so sexy again and omg the album is so bad. "no hotel" alone is better than the whole record.

The SSSS slander is such a bandwagon thing. It's not bad at all. It's a great sonic adventure for her that still stays true to her core as an artist. The title is perfect because it sounds exactly how it's called. A wonderful collection of songs with great production and lyrics. People doing too much and that's why she's saying that.

ssss is so bad there's only a few good songs she spilled i fear

Yeah you guys and lykke are dragging ssss. It made me stan because it was such a musical shift from previous projects. I always feel like artists like lykke excel when they experiment with more mainstream/trap sounds. It's not that she can't have negative feels on it but atleast stand by your work for being what it was at that moment. Ironically at the current moment her music is making even less noise.

so they hosted one in London, you had to pre save the album and then you get put in a draw or something.

album is incredible, i can potentially see it being my favourite of hers. there are no highs like there are in wounded rhymes and i never learn. but its so god damn cohesive and godly
