To be honest we served taste but the tasteless hoes here aren’t ready for that conversation! Imagine that 2NE1 and Allie X songs surviving :biblio:

I just realized by Bottom2 I meant OVERALL B2 to keep sending mid entries. Screamin’ :skull:

But listen you never know w the results! - this round could be very tight/surprising.

SOPHIE - Is It Cold In The Water?: just stunning. RIP angel :'(

Ravyn Lenae - M.I.A. - Her best entry this season imo.

Eyedi - & New - Don’t like this as much as her other singles but it’s still decent

Janelle Monáe - Oh, Maker - Not bad but I think it’s because all her other songs which were my faves have been sent already, so this doesn’t stick to me like it should.

Sky Ferreira - Nobody Asked Me (If I Was Okay) - Great song from great album. Title name reminds me of My Chemical Romance too.

2NE1 - I Don’t Care - I don’t think I’ll be able to save this one unfortunately so yeah white flag.

Jean Deaux - Recipe! - Not very memorable.

YUKIKA - pit-a-pet - Another smash hit from her.

Wolf Alice - Don’t Delete The Kisses - it’s their best song I think but I’m still not that into them.

Shura - What’s It Gonna Be? - I always thought this was something that should’ve been used a while ago. With that said, I like it.

Kiana Ledé - Chocolate. (feat. Ari Lennox) - It’s listenable, sure. Ari did help.

Allie X - GLAM! - Nty. Song’s on the shouty side.

K. Michelle - V.S.O.P. - Solid enough for points.

SOPHIE - Is It Cold In The Water? - It’s a good song sound design wise but def not a clever fit for this playlist. Will still support.

Chloe x Halle - Don’t Make It Harder On Me - It’s fine. Doesn’t move me much though.

Bree Runway - What Do I Tell My Friends? - When the beat kicks in it’s good.

Kilo Kish - DISTRACTION III: SPOILED ROTTEN - I would’ve preferred new tricks too but this still does get the job done.

Chloe x Halle - Don’t Make It Harder On Me: has this really nice throwback vibe

Posted

Bree Runway - What Do I Tell My Friends?: wasn't really a fan of this one

Kilo Kish - DISTRACTION III: SPOILED ROTTEN: nice vibe, stellar way to finish the round

rankings sent x

M.I.A.: chill vibes, expensive instrumentation supplemented with these ambient sounds and quite stunning layering mmmm

Posted

& New: it comes together very nicely. Nothing groundbreaking but it’s light and bouncy and fun

Posted

Oh, Maker: this is one of my favourite albums ever, and the spell it had over me in the early 10s is something. I never had a special connection with this particular track which feels a bit backgroundish but it’s very good nonetheless and will be getting points yeh

Posted

Sky: it feels a bit abrasive. Not really my kind of music but yeh it’s undeniably strong. I already know this is a competitive round so idk about points but could challenge

Posted

2NE1: sorry to whoever sent this but it’s without doubt the worst song of the round

Posted

Recipe!: never heard this before the round and I’m pleasantly surprised, it’s moderately to very interesting and stylish. The pacing is lovely. And the vocal delivery (half talking ting) works nicely- I would definitely revisit

Posted

Yukika: I mean, it’s great. The production is so punchy? The structure is fascinating especially in the middle third, it keeps developing and surprising. I don’t know how to explain this but it somehow feels sparse but also explosive and intricate simultaneously

Posted

Wolf Aloce: it’s ethereal, it’s magical, it’s 5 years old yet also the moment and was the musical climax of Heartbreaker for sure

Posted

hmmm just got home but I can’t find my headphones… qualms

Posted

Shura: it’s feel good, it’s uplifting and lovely. It’s not trying to be anything it’s not, like it’s content in being a light + well made bop. She isn’t very charismatic but oh well!

Posted

Chocolate: smooth and enjoyable. This is harsh but it’s kinda verging on generic tho

Posted

Allie X: This feels very 2014 which is odd considering it was released last year. It lightly bops but feels cheap compared to the competition

Posted

VSOP: I can understand why people apparently love this song, and I do like it too. There’s this kind of charming strength to it, definitely anthemic leaning, kinda like the R&B version of a power ballad. But it’s a bit corny to score highly

Posted

Sophie: people are doing this wrong omg. It’s a lot but it’s stunning. The eclectic chaos is something nobody has ever executed quite like this before or since

Posted

CXH: very good song on a very consistently good album

Posted

Bree: I enjoy this but I do agree with a prior critique that it probably verges on faceless, like anyone could sing this e.g. it would easily fit on a Raye project. I’m going to score it well regardless tho

Posted

Kilo Kish: hmmmm she’s so powerful. I whole heartedly approve, my only criticism is that it feels kinda disjointed / jarring. But that’s kinda the point so…
