Psycho Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 BoA - Fox: this bops, im more attached to the other kpop songs but this will get points
Future Lover Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Ethel Cain - Gibson Girl Hard pass Rachel Chinouriri - All I Ever Asked Pretty cute Ari Lennox - Pressure This is just okay SUNMI - 1/6 It's no Sunny Lauren Jauregui - Don’t Wanna Say Can't say I enjoyed this Tkay Maidza & UMI - Onto Me This is pleasant, but I would've prefered literally any song from her second EP Girls’ Generation - Genie A classic. Probably their best song Mura Masa - 1 Night (feat. Charli XCX) Haven't heard this in years, it might just make the cut Sudan Archives - Down On Me It's not bad but it kinda passed me by YUKIKA - Soul Lady Love this song Anitta - Versions Of Me Generic bop Laura Mvula - Safe Passage Cute sing Black Honey - Midnight I enjoyed this. Sonically it kind of reminds me of Dragonette's debut Jessie J - Abracadabra I was prepared to hate it, but it's pretty nice Joyce Wrice - Iced Tea Decent fromis_9 - DM The chorus kinda gets on my nerves. I enjoyed the rest of the song Sophie Ellis-Bextor - New York City Lights This is almost there, but it's missing something. It might grow on me Goldfrapp - Anymore Decent enough bop, far from their best though BoA - Fox Pretty nice Jae Stephans - got it like that It's not bad but it borders on annoying
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Ethel Cain - Gibson Girl - The best song on this meh album. I like it.
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Rachel Chinouriri - All I Ever Asked - this was a cute fun bop, ive heard it somewhere before
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Ari Lennox - Pressure - ATE! DEVOURED! CHEWED!
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 SUNMI - 1/6 - Ouu I really enjoy this, lemme save it! It was nice and smooth, this is the type of k pop I usually enjoy, the ones with the loud production I don't really like so this is right up my alley!
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Lauren Jauregui - Don’t Wanna Say - this underrated queen, love her voice and she deserves better, great song!
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Tkay Maidza & UMI - Onto Me - This is such a nice song, I really like it, the EP is also quite lovely, their voices blend really well together and I definitely need to do a deeper dive into both of their discographies.
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Girls’ Generation - Genie - This was a pleasant listen, cute song, the production is nice.
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Mura Masa - 1 Night (feat. Charli XCX) - this was okay, it's not awful but it did not really do much for me, sorry!
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Sudan Archives - Down On Me - She has a really nice voice, the production is also really good, I love the instruments in the back and the various elements here and there, the bridge is nice too, I like the change of tone, a great song tbh, let me save it!
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 YUKIKA - Soul Lady - I discovered this song in Vanishing Letters and I have loved it since then, amazing song! I really need to look into her discography!
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Anitta - Versions Of Me - tbh this was quite catchy and it reminds me of a lot of dance pop songs that gays live for, it was a fun song.
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Laura Mvula - Safe Passage - She has a really strong voice, this was pretty nice tbh, not me finding all these slays in this round chile!
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Black Honey - Midnight - There are parts of this I enjoyed, not my fav tbh but it's cute.
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Jessie J - Abracadabra - this was cute, love her voice, nothing else to say.
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Joyce Wrice - Iced Tea - This big BOP! , I love this song!
Lucky#17 Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Ethel Cain — Gibson Girl I’m guessing the outro of this leads to another song? This was a very interesting way to kick off the round. It was a bit long for my liking but the seduction was certainly there/that vocal effect on her is almost like kryptonite. Rachel Chinouriri — All I Ever Asked Everything about this is cute! Loved listening with the artwork on the screen, hahaa. Ari Lennox — Pressure This is cute as well! SUNMI — 1/6 It’s the 1-2-3 punch of cuteness for me. The soft-synth-type tracks are very hit-or-miss with me, but this feels more standard. I guess that’s a good thing(?), her vocal & the production felt more sleek than cheap. This round is turning out to be more competitive than I anticipated! Lauren Jauregui — Don’t Wanna Say Okay, more subtle/sensual here. She sounds good/hot & the instrumentation is real nice. Lemme check the proj. out later. Tkay Maidza & UMI — Onto Me Ooh, I’m liking her head voice transitions a lot. The feature fit on the track nicely as well. Only hesitation is don’t feel connected to the lyrics. Girls’ Generation — Genie Not my personal favorite from GG but it’s still GG so pts. are coming out, duh. Mura Masa f/ Charli XCX — 1 Night Despite loving Charli this is actually my first time hearing this1. It’s cute & her voice of course stands out from the crowd. Good on you for working that loophole. Sudan Archives — Down On Me This also stands out so far... quite the nice discovery here, might have to give it some spins after the results. YUKIKA — Soul Lady I understand the appeal for the song. I wish there woulda been an instrumental break actually to show the production off a bit more. Anitta — Versions of Me Eh it’s not bad but :// I woulda Top3’d Que Rabão!!! Laura Mvula — Safe Passage I like that although like many songs here being being about love, the lyrical approach is different - it’s more creative & stands out. The production being a bit dynamic helps out, too. Black Honey — Midnight Eh something about this feels cheap but I can’t put my finger on it. Appreciate you trying to go for a different sound though. Jessie J — Abracadabra God this is so 2012 it’s fantastic, you’re definitely winning me over with the nostalgic sound. Joyce Wrice — Iced Tea A sleek, nice, carefree track - I liked it. fromis_9 — DM Oh-oh, alright, these girls were certainly working overtime on those adlibs especially. Sophie Ellis-Bextor — New York City Lights This really does have a 2007 approach, loving it. I do wish it went a bit harder though. Still might give it a point. Goldfrapp — Anymore Whewwww the progression in production & backing vocals is just what I was hoping for! Nice entry. BoA — Fox Another cute1. That outro is especially mad cute. I’d have to do another pass of a few songs (incl. this1) ‘cause production-wise things have sounded a bit similar. Jae Stephans — got it like that The chorus sells it but I’m not sure if I’ll end up liking it enough to give pts. - the competition was pretty fierce this round. ••• The UPGRADE from last round. Good luck everyone, it’s gonna be real interesting to see who the Top5 is for this round!!!
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 fromis_9 - DM - Wow! This round is seriously really strong because I really enjoyed this too! Forming a top 10 is gonna be difficult for me nnnnnn
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Sophie Ellis-Bextor - New York City Lights - This was enjoyable too, gave me a Jessie Ware vibe, I can see her singing this, I liked it.
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Goldfrapp - Anymore - This was interesting, tbh not my fav song in this group but it was a fascinating listen.
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 (edited) BoA - Fox - This was nice, I like it not much more to say. Edited June 6, 2022 by Not Like The Movies
Not Like The Movies Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Jae Stephans - got it like that - A strong close to this really strong round, very fitting!
