I don't see any point in continuing this discussion, as we clearly take different stances, but I personally stand firm in saying that a middle schooler who laughed at these things over a decade ago shouldn't be branded as a racist adult 10 years later, when they've done absolutely nothing problematic since then, and have been nothing but vocal/supportive of BLM/black issues for 8 years now 

 

Just say you want a reason to hate her and move on with your day, it's okay! 

You started this whole thing because "she never used the n word"/"none of her posts used the n word" which is factually wrong. All I said in my original post is that her decline was a result of a combination of things, including receipts coming out that she used racial slurs in the past.

EDIT: since when is 15 years old "middle school"? She turned 15 on March 2012, these screenshots are from January-March 2012, she was 14/15, she was in high school...

im not defending the jokes themselves, im saying that calling her racist at 25 years old when she's done nothing problematic since then is weird, and comes off as the internet just needing a reason to hate someone they didn't like in the first place.

 

Why does nobody on atrl ever call Justin a racist? He said the n-word with a hard R several times as part of a joke about joining the KKK and killing them, and was actually older than Camila was when she re-tweeted memes containing a word that every popular YouTuber was using in their jokes at the time? Yet she's the "bombing racist" while he's "prince of pop" at best, and "Mustin" at the very worst.

Joke's on you I call him racist too. This thread isn't about him, tho. I'm sorry, but there's ignorance and "it was another time" and there's using the n word and making countless incredibly racially charged jokes. She was the latter (as was Justin). You can excuse someone being ignorant, hope they've grown and learned. Her jokes weren't ignorant or innocent. She perpetuated every racist stereotype, which means she was FULLY aware of what she was doing. She didn't fall on the reblog button dozens of times accidentally. That's a pattern of behavior. You're gonna have to deal with the fact that some people don't find apologies sufficient. Get on that instead of lying ("she didn't say it herself" when she did) and minimizing her actions ("it was just a couple of jokes" "she was in middle school" no it wasn't and no she wasn't).

She has a top 10 Spotify song with one of the biggest artists of this decade whose other songs this era charted A LOT better and did A LOT more noise. If it was her that people were streaming that song for, the rest of her album would've caught at least a little bit of the wave, and yet, it's done embarrassingly low numbers on all metrics. Also, you said in your other message that she didn't have a fanbase and that she was putting out bad music and that was the reason for her downfall. Now she didn't have a downfall? 

 

No, she was never an albums' artist, she always relied on huge hits (collabs) to make her eras stay afloat, but last era she was filling out arenas and now she's not even headlining her own theater tour, she's just opening up for Coldplay in a handful of countries. Between that and the fact that this album is pulling incredibly low numbers even compared to Romance on all metrics, then yeah, she has suffered a STEEP decline, and you can't act like the huge scandal she was in that still haunts her everywhere had absolutely nothing to do with it. It wasn't THE reason but it definitely didn't help.

This issue of labelling people based on what music they listen to is  I identify myself as a liberal agnostic Asian (with a close association to Buddhist syncretism) and that has got nothing to do with me enjoying Carrie’s music and her love for her own Lord.

Because her stans were trying to shove her down everybody’s throats and making her seem bigger than she was. Camila stans were like liddos back when she first went solo. Anyway.

 

i love Familia and I really hope it finds longevity  it grew on me a lot and it’s a really good album tbh, but I also notice it is her weakest album vocally. But yea like other members have said, her decline is due to many different things lol
