He is the biggest country act since Taylor. This. The controversy hurt him, he could have crossover pop hits (7 summers could have been a pop/HAC/AC crossover hit like "I Hope" or "The Bones"). Instead radio dropped him and it wasn't until Sand in my boots that country radio started to play him again. He probably would have been nominated for AOTY at the Grammys too. Obviously the album is a smash but the numbers would have been even bigger with more radio support, streaming playlists support and award shows performances/wins.
