Liafen Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 ooP @ Cate's Trifecta sweep. Last time she won she bagged her (2nd) Oscar she's unstoppable, i fear
Alyssa Edwards Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 BAFTA said NO to the troll nominations that "RRR" is getting in weirdo america
family.guy123 Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Still not over the James Corden snub for The Prom. Somehow the Golden Globes were the only ones with some sense that year

hausofdave Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 hilariously enough critics have been trying to push RRR despite the fact India said NO! to the int. selection, yet All Quiet comes out of the blue and starts dominating, over performing w the industry shortlists whereas the former is likely to squeeze in only a BOS nod
Komet Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Watched All Quiet the other day and jesus what a movie. Idk if any other 'war is hell' movie hit me as hard as this one did, glad it seems like it's getting love.
DanyelP23 Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 I need Oscars to serve some taste and give Tang Wei a surprise ***** nomination
period sis Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Nattu Nattu should still win BOS though. The absolute BAWP!
fridayteenage Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 (edited) surprise acting nominees tend to be coattails. last 10 years, oscar nominated performances in movies with no major noms from globes or bfca: 21 penelope cruz, parallel mothers. la/nsfc winner 14 bradley cooper, american sniper. released last minute, a movie which made hundreds of millions of dollars without being a franchise movie, while being an Important Eastwood War Biopic (top 100 films in the US, live-action non-franchise: Titanic, ET, American Sniper, Forrest Gump). Blue Monday Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Don’t think there’s any way Cate loses the Oscar
hausofdave Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 Actress & Supp Actor seems locked up w an indefinite sweep from Blanchett & Quan especially w the latter starting next week w GGs ironically Actor & Supp Actress is still are up in the air
Donquizote Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 It's over for Yeoh. Cate is sweeping everything
Dr. Alexander Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Can we expect a nomination for Angela Bassett at the Academy Awards? She’s well overdue for the trophy and I am legitimately surprised that her team is not campaigning a ‘thank you for your devotion to Hollywood’ win, in the same vein that Laura Dern did.
kandicha Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 I don't think Best Actress is locked. I see Blanchett and Yeoh both winning Golden Globes, Yeoh winning SAG and Blanchett winning BAFTA leaving the race a nail-biter until the end. That said, if Blanchett wins SAG or Yeoh wins BAFTA, it's over. 2 minutes ago, Dr. Alexander said: Can we expect a nomination for Angela Bassett at the Academy Awards? Best Supporting Actress is so up in the air but I feel good about Bassett's chances after getting the Golden Globe nod and the BAFTA long list.
EnigmaticAndroid Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 (edited) While Cate is definitely the frontrunner, I'd still say that Yeoh has a chance given just how strong EEAAO is. There's a solid chance she'd come along if it wins Picture. Imo, Supporting Actor is the only locked acting category. Edited January 8, 2023 by EnigmaticAndroid
zoldyck Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 I love Cate, but hoping for Yeoh to pull through. Cate will have multiple chances to win her third, but this is once a lifetime opportunity for Yeoh
fridayteenage Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 if queen yeoh loses, this is basically ampas's message to non-white lead actresses:
Alyssa Edwards Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Eh, Michelle losing is fine by me. Viola losing for Ma Rainey now THAT was a real travesty. If only the movie was good
hausofdave Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 (edited) if EEAAO wins PGA, then its undeniable for Picture, rn its film twitter & critics dream Edited January 8, 2023 by hausofdave
Donquizote Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Cate gives the best performance this year in Tar. I will not be mad if she won. At the end of the day, AMPAS are going to vote for the best performance
