Jessie Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Anyway, seems like the All Quiet love wasn’t relegated to the BAFTAs after all.
Chemist Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 One of the most deserving movies to win an Oscar for Best Picture in the last 20 years (This and Parasite)
Liafen Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Michelle winning, deservedly Kinda glad that Legend Cate lost, the backlash/hate train from the nasty EEAAO stans kinda would've been unbearable. She can and will collect her 3rd (which was basically cemented right when she lost this one) and 4th later
Phonography Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I mean you cannot say this year wasn't fan service- From JLC to Fraser to Yeoh. I'm happy for them, as they are all great and they were overdue, but you can just tell that any other year this would've gone completely different. Let's just be happy that Butler didn't win anything
Kylizzle Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 AQOTWF getting those technical awards is the real enemy. TÁR should've won at least cinematography. I'm so happy for EEAAO and Michelle especially. Such a genuine and deserved moment.
Lovett Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I'm so happy for Michelle and EEAAO I hope the MAGA crowd are miserable. I am simultaneously thrilled for JLC and devastated for Angela Bassett. Her reaction to her loss was heartbreaking. She truly deserves to be recognised for her tremendous talent and career.

Blade Runner Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Let's remember these "They had Oscar buzz" movies that we all thought were going to SWEEP. Chazelle, Iñárritu and Sam Mendes truly fumbled the bag. 3 titans having rotten movies the same year. Will Barbie and Oppenheimer face the same fate next season?

They're their own thing. I'm glad they recognized all these performance becuase they were great. Critics awards shouldn't exist only to predict the Oscars.
Slate Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Not too upset with any wins tbh Very happy for Michelle and glad All Quiet took 4 awards home!

Canonical Ensembl Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 When EEAAO was released last year, I was like “wow, finally a great movie in april”. Never thought it would expand like The Bagel.
Riot Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Anyways - Michelle Yeoh made history, I'm so thrilled for her - EEAO followed A Streetcar Named Desire and Network as the only films with 3 acting wins, it's so unbelievable considering that it's a sci-fi movie - The Oscars finally said NO! to biopics - The BAFTAs are losers and the SAGAs are the most reliable precursor
Kh-Loud Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 (edited) YES Michelle - CONGRATS QUEEN and the casts; racists, OMHs and Obsessed Excellent Taste haters lost Edited March 13, 2023 by Kh-Loud
Canonical Ensembl Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I have a feeling Cate will win her 3rd in a random dud lead role a few years later.
Saintlor Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Margot Robbie’s performance in Babylon completely ate up Michelle and Cate’s performances

Riot Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Margot Robbie should worry about not starring in box office bombs first. She still hasn't had a successful movie this decade.
