Rotunda Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 The real question is how long until the next WOC wins a lead Oscar
slik Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Is EEAAO the first film to win Best Picture with a Spring release date since Silence of the Lambs?
Marianah Adkins Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 This ******* crying that the Oscars has been out of touch yet when a film that is actually well received and commercially successful wins, suddenly the Oscars are tasteless lmao. IS IT BECAUSE THE MAIN ACTORS ARE ASIAN AND NOT WHITE? EEAOO has been absolutely dominating this awards season circuit. It was an obvious frontrunner for BP from the get go.

White women need respect and we need to tell them they are worthy too, you know. So for the next 30 YEARS only white women are allowed to win this. Seems about right.

Kylizzle Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 The fact that basically only two movies won any awards is messy. Congrats EEAAO

I think it makes sense for EEAAO to win Best Picture, it won every guild it completely makes sense. No movie has won as many Oscars as EEAAO since Slumdog. I just don't think half the BP nominees should be Oscar-less except Elvis.

NYFCC, NSFC, LAFC, and Venice agree with me. There's an urgency to reward Legend Cate for her third Oscar for one of the best performances of all time in TAR. Hoping for Cate to pull through this Sunday. Also hoping that AMPAS members to finally reward Field the Best Director award. NYFCC curse strikes again!
Yves Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 So, so, so happy for the EEAAO team! Michelle Yeoh making history
Tylerbv Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I wanna replace that Katy v gaga iconic speech with Michelle Yeoh’s talented face

ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted March 13, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted March 13, 2023 Everything Everywhere is a triumph of a film. Deeply moving, thoughtful executed, wondrously original, and performed perfectly. I can understand wanting another film to win (several were arguably just as good) but to discredit Everything Everywhere's sheer artistry is truly something else.
