EnigmaticAndroid Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 (edited) First reactions for The Woman King are very strong, lots of praise for Viola. Maybe she can get into the Globes or SAG? Edited September 10, 2022 by EnigmaticAndroid
EnigmaticAndroid Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Also looks like Bros is getting universally stellar reactions and could be a contender for People's Choice. Maybe it pulls a Bridesmaids/The Big Sick and gets into Screenplay?
Donquizote Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Just watched Decision to Leave. Wtf I just watched. Tang Wei and Park deserve to get nominated for Actress, Screenplay, Picture and Director

I did not enjoy it, far too erratic visually, even though the story was compelling enough. Like, just calm down.

It will be a crime if Park didnt get nominated for Director and Tang Wei missed Actress nomination. Still cant get over Reinsve was not nominated last year
Donquizote Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 It's over for de Armas if she didnt win Volpi

Unless TAR is winning a bigger prize I think it's over for the other girls.

Donquizote Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 As usual, I hope there'll be surprise performance to get nominated for Best Actress this year. Rooting for Tang Wei/Zahra Amir.
Riot Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 The last time the Volpi Cup for Best Actor and the Academy Award for Best Actor had the same winner was in 1936 Maybe I do not want Colin Farrell to win it
McNulty Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Today is a big day. Causeway, Glass Onion and The Fabelmans will all premiere at the TIFF
Broken Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 The Woman King: 100% on RT (avg. rating 7.7) - 11 reviews
MAXIMO Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 A 3rd oscar for Cate is just a matter of time. We all know it.

Antisocialites Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Taylor Russell wins Marcello Mastroianni Award. Colin Farrell wins Volpi Cup for Actor.

Denyy Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Welp, Blanchett is about to snatch, she has the buzz Extremely happy for Farrell, his overdue first Oscar nom now sounds more realistic than ever
McNulty Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Martin McDonagh won for screenplay. Banshees will be very strong at the Oscars
McNulty Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 79th Venice International Film Festival Results Golden Lion: All the Beauty and the Bloodshed by Laura Poitras Grand Jury Prize: Saint Omer by Alice Diop Silver Lion: Bones and All by Luca Guadagnino Volpi Cup for Best Actress: Cate Blanchett for Tár Volpi Cup for Best Actor: Collin Farrell for The Banshees of Inisherin Golden Osella for Best Screenplay: The Banshees of Inisherin by Martin McDonagh Special Jury Prize: No Bears by Jafar Panahi Marcello Mastroianni Award: Taylor Russell for Bones and All
Donquizote Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Happy for McDonagh and Blanchett. Both will be very strong Oscar contender. I'm boarding Cate's hype train from now on. She will sweep everything So happy for Legend to tie Meryl's Oscar record soon
Antisocialites Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 (edited) okay so main takeaways: - Banshees is definitely the frontrunner for Best Picture (Director, Screenplay and Actor are locked noms at this point) - Farrell and Butler are battling for Best Actor's win, doubt Brendan Fraser is competition for them. - Cate Blanchett is SWEEPING since there's barely any competition. Ana de Armas is not happening. Edited September 10, 2022 by Héloïse
