Women Talking makes me excited the most :jonny4:

I am still sticking to Yeoh, De Armas, and Ackie as my Top 3 Best Actress nominees. Just found out that only three women ever won Volpi Cup two times. Blanchett already won previously and I'm not sure whether Venice wants to give her second one if the role is not groundbreaking enough.

If Blanchett lost Volpi Cup to De Armas or someone else, it's over. She will still get nominated but I'm not sure AMPAS wants to give her the third one if her performance is not slam dunk like McDormand and Streep.

Her Oscar campaign has started. If she won Volpi, it's OVER for everyone else.

This also it would be very hypocritical of Hollywood to celebrate this film when they themselves knew about Harvey and others but kept their mouth shut.

Anyway I just know that Babylon is coming to sweep

Perhaps Brandon Fraser will finally win an Oscar for that movie.

Weird that Babylon has not been confirmed for any festival. Maybe Chazelle decides to keep it lowkey this time around.

I think he's wary of getting the automatic frontrunner status that hurt La La Land and he/the studio are being very careful with how they play their cards.

The way Gerwig is gonna try for some obvious social commentary through a character like Barbie :toofunny2: So transparent. Hopefully panned.

Margot will probably give another acclaimed performance though

When you have the run time of a feature length movie, you have to convey something substantial otherwise the film will lack depth and will be forgettable. As long as it’s not on the nose or overt, a stance should be encouraged. Barbie has been around for decades. If she’s not bringing anything new to the table, why bother with an adaptation?
