Diarrhoea Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Happy New Year Levitation Watching You Go Hall of Mirrors Insect Loop Half Light Sunday In the Cemetery Strange Conversations Two Ribbons Reminder that the worst rollout of all time comes to an end on April 29 x
Diarrhoea Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 I think the album is much better-structured than IAE was. It’s never quite as adventurous, but this was pretty obvious from the outset (just look at the song lengths). They pull off their more straightforward sound extremely well, and their writing has improved a lot with age - IAE sounds positively juvenile in comparison. The acoustic moments work much better than the equivalents before, even if there isn't as much of a 'twist' to them. Their Joanne era I fear I look forward to their next 33 minutes of music in 2025.
K$Ellie Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 (edited) the albums tracks are better than the singles but this is nowhere near as good as I'm All Ears Hall of Mirrors grew probably bc it sounds like an IAE song, Two Ribbons needed something to happen in the second half, Happy New Year kinda sounds like a 2012 Pitbull song as someone mentioned in the old thread Watching You Go was right there Sunday is also good edit: maybe Hall of Mirrors is a 10 x Edited April 28, 2022 by K$Ellie

And HNY is a stone-cold bop which Pitbull wishes he had those melodies
Delirious Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 how the **** did this album not appear in my release radar playlist thank god for crabhands

Polgg48 Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 me against the world and say first half >>>>>> , i CAN stand Strange Conversations is cute.
Αnt Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Another great album! Sunday is so good. I love the production on In the Cemetery, but I wish it was longer and with vocals.
Daddy Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 It's OK. I was hoping for more tho. The singles are the obvious highlights and the rest pales in comparison. Their sophomore stays their best

Sazare Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Yeah the singles are definitely the standouts for me too, but they’re really hitting me now for some reason. Levitation especially.
Αnt Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 I’ve been playing the album on repeat all week! Still can’t get enough of Sunday.
potent Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Even though it's short they kinda lost me halfway through. Title track is still a masterpiece though.
Uncatena Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 I actually liked this a lot more than I expected to. The singles sound way better in the context of the album, plus this has easily their best writing yet. I miss the more experimental touch of IAE but at the same time, it feels like a good progression. i wonder if they will continue to make music together all things considered
Lucas32 Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 I liked this. Not as much as IAE but still a good listen. The recurring lyrics about growing apart tie the whole thing together for me. I agree about the singles being the highlights but how much does this mean when 4/8 songs (not counting interludes) were singles?
