To think Epic dropped Meghan Trainor for this garbage :rip: They really screwed up that one

All the years of endless streams of money wasted on this girl, only to end up at this :deadbanana4:

Actually, come to think of it, Meghan Trainor's last album also debuted with 25k and that had zero promo, no single, and was just dropped with no fanfare :skull:

I think it's all about momentum in the industry, once you start flopping it's harder to get the top playlist placements, harder to convince radio to jump on board, to get booked on major promo spots like SNL and award shows, etc etc. Alessia, Iggy, Meghan all fell off hard enough that they stopped being able to get all that and so it's very hard to reignite interest. Camila has been able to keep getting that thanks to hit collaborations, and even seems to be doing that now with "Bam Bam", but eventually the penny drops. It will be interesting to see what happens from now.

I am convinced her team is marketing her as 'Camila is one of the few young Latina celebs, she will help your TV show/product/award show/etc get interest from young female Hispanic demographic which is the fastest growing demographic in the USA', so regardless of how she performs we may still see her pop up. I think this is the same thing that kept JLo a semi-relevant celeb when all her projects were bombing hard in the late 2000s. There's a lack of Latino celebs in US media compared to how big a % they are of US population. Karol G and Rosalia are rising fast in America though and may snatch that spot if they aren't already getting there. Yes I know Rosalia is Spanish but to the US media it's the same. They still cast Javier Bardem and Antonio Banderas as Mexicans all the time.

I work in marketing so this is my take lol. But her career does feel very smoke and mirrors right now, between using features to get hits, not being able to tour solo (she's opening for Coldplay, which shocked me tbh, I figured she could at least do a theatre tour), etc.

she will never reach the legend status of JLo but she can still turn her career around by going the Becky G route

I was here long enough to remember when Becky G started out quite similar to CaCa but her English career never took off, so after a string of massive flops, she changed gear to the latin market, eventually got some acclaimed hits, and now she has a top 15 Hot 100 hit, even outpeaking Shower

Familia being acclaimed by critics could further drive her to explore the latin sound, once she actually captures the latin market then she's pretty much set for life. latin market also cares much less about her problematic past. but that requires her team and herself to change their approach of trying to make her a MPG, because the chance has come and gone, she will never become one :cm: she does have a big enough stan base, so she can have a nice start in the latin market :cm:

I remember when one or two of her stans were OBSESSED with Meghan. Now she met the same fate. Good riddance

At least Meghan had solo hits and won a Grammy. CaCa won’t ever.

I thought everyone here was saying Camilla was a not main pop girl though?

And that the last new girl to ascend to main pop girl status was Ariana Grande?

And people were calling Camilla’s last album a flop too, even though it had 2 hits and saying she was more like Meghan Trainor status

So it can’t work both ways. If people didn’t see Camilla on that high of a level before and knew she was struggling, then they can’t be too surprised when her numbers are a bit lower this time. If anything you would expect the numbers to be even much lower than this.

Why compare a Grammy winner to this flop?

The numbers can always be way worse. You even said she had a song go Top 30. Clearly, she’s not at an atrocious Nelly Furtado level

And what does H.E.R. have to do with anything :rip:

Seems like H.E.R didn’t debut that much higher on her last album and her 2 previous albums before that, the two albums that no one heard that were nominated for the Grammy Album Of The Year missed the Top 20 :deadbanana4: and one of them even charted at #86 :gaycat6:

this delusion.

This is a great take tbh and the Becky G comparison is spot on. I think Familia is a very good album and imo her best move is to pivot and fully embrace the Latin sound and market. I liked Havana and Señorita when they were hits, but Don't Go Yet is what actually made me wanna check for her album. The album numbers are terrible but idk why this site hates her so much, Familia has bops

I mean the album isn't very good so it's not surprising. :michael:

From fighting Gaga during 'Camila' era, to fighting Dua during 'Romance', and now Meghan during 'Familia'. If she makes it to the 4th album, maybe Camilizers will fight the Bebe Rexhars! @Villanelle

A great week for Camilizers, indeed

One is a Grammy nominee with one of the biggest #1s ever and multiple solo top 10 hits. CaCa has none of those. :bibliahh:

I’m glad Camila’s indie acclaim era has all of her secret fans bothered :heart2:

And Meghan was always a nice, unproblematic girl

She was easily a GP darling with soccer moms and kids. Could've replaced Katy Perry but it all went downhill after Me Too (the song)

Y'all do the most. She has #1 hits and is on her third album, while none of her band members have released an album. What would you classify them as, if you're calling her the biggest failure of all time?

none of her bandmates have released albums yet nor have their labels poured so much money into them to yield such failure of results :rip: it's about return of investments which Epic is clearly not seeing right now.

OT: don't see how she'll recover from this

her disgusting attempt to use the ukraine war to promote 'bam bam' has backfired, as her fans all cried' you have no idea what song shes using!!11' its only right that this turd was said NO to by GP. And once the songs on TTH fall, there will be nothing left of this album. In the UK, The two most consumed songs do not count for album consumption. I wish her the best of luck :bibliahh:

what are those numbers. :deadbanana4:

She was never that big to me (outside of Havana)

Her team/label has done a good job in keeping her booked and busy and making her appear alot more relevant than she is imo
