Really enjoying the album, it’s obviously only for a certain mood you’re in lol so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it way more when I get in a sad depressed mood

I think the right tracks were chosen for pre release cause the rest are more or less the same.

The album seems like a perfect blend of Holly Brook and Skylar Grey and I’m glad she isn’t trying to write to get a hit anymore it seems because let’s be real she will never get one without being a hook girl, which is fine obviously

anyone else getting Can’t Haunt Me vibes from the verses of Destroyer?

I agree, I adore how in this album is almost like Holly Brook feat Skylar Grey.

And yeah, I hear Can't Haunt Me in Destroyer, epic.

Her best album:jonny5: Loop and Impaled are my favorite album tracks so far. Just ordered a signed copy from her store.

Yes, indeed, it is!

I like it but I wish the tracks were a little different. The album is a little too cohesive and it sounds like one long song

That's true, but thank god it's not as boring as Clairo latest album which all the songs sound almost the same and some of them are kinda boring.

This album is very cohesive and all the songs sound similar, but I'm glad each of them bring something that stands out and let me know which one is it.

the album goes from Destroyer to Loop and from Impaled to Sparks

i don't think there's room to say it sounds the same/repetitive but to each their own

I listened to it On my way! To bed and it was such a mood, “Destroyer” is a standout for me

the piano on Cheers is hitting hard today :gaycat6:

it reminds me of a certain sound from the 90s, I think

you're right, a lot of the tracks on the album are inspired by trip hop bands from the late 90s like Massive Attack and Portishead

Show Me Where It Hurts has a very similar sound to 'Teardrop'

I think Cheers might be my least favorite

the chorus of Show Me Where It Hurts reminds

me of the chorus of I need a Doctor and both are a slay :jonnycat:

The more I listen to this, it's kind of becoming my AOTY so far :jonny5:melodies, vocals, production... all sickening tbh.

And the length really compliments how cohesive and moody it is, I have had the album on loop

I wasn't expecting NOTHING from her (her latests two EPs are meh to me) and she ******* came and said "You want more classic Skylar with a little bit of Holly on it? There you go".

******* IMPRESSED

So we might be getting a deluxe! :duca:

I wasn't impressed at first but it CLICKED after a few days. Destroyer is the standout for me but I love the project as a whole. Runaway, Impaled, and Cheers are also 10/10s and even some of the singles I didn't love before (Vampire At the Swimming Pool) sound great as part of the album

I feel so bad for her! :cries:

This is such a beautiful album and props to her for writing and producing it alone! It has everything I love about her music, from the melodies to the haunting productions

She was married on the DL to some rich dude who (to my understanding) kickstarted and provided the funds to start her “Skylar grey” era and gave the money to produce Love The Way You Lie and songs of that era. Could be wrong but I think that’s what happened?  And then he was allegedly crazy and stalked her after they ended things?

Skylar I’ll always check for you but the way I haven’t played anything but the singles form this album since the week it came out :rip:

I think it’s a great beautiful album but it just doesn’t provide an easy listen

Whoa, didn't know she was married back then.

I'm glad she's in a better and healthier place now.

It's very sad that she doesnt own her old material, you can tell this hurts her badly.

Hopefully she can re-record them in order to own the old material, just like Taylor did.

Her latest album is to me her best album so far, the best thing she could've ever done is to produce her own album.

the most recent post on her Instagram is so interesting! Love that she produced the album as well , so much talent. Just ultimately wish it was a more diverse record but it’s not a bad album at all.

I think for her “owning” the songs it’s not really worth it cause none of her solo songs are real money makers, just her songs that she’s wrote for other people. We will probably get an updated Love The Way You Lie I bet tho! That’ll be interesting to hear. Version 4.0

I feel like in her short lived podcast a few years ago she mentioned she performed at his party and that was how they met and after talking and vibing he provided the funds for a little studio setup and that started their relationship. Obvi could be wrong tho as that podcast was years ago and idk how or why I remember the details :toofunny3:

yes i was just listening to it to refresh my memory - it was called Sonic Footprints

but you were right! after she performed at one of his parties he offered her a recording studio but she rejected it

then she went to her cabin in the woods and sometime later they randomly met in New York where she was living in random places so he asked her to move in with him and i guess that's how their relationship started and he became her manager

after natural causes came out i barely remember hearing much from her and i guess that's when it all went down but i don't know exactly how

i do remember though that she posted pictures with elliott before they started dating so it was probably jealousy from him because i doubt she cheated

in late 2017 a lot of articles started coming out about her setting a restraining order against him and that's when we found out about it

that's all the knowledge i have

and the thing about the rights to her songs is really sad for an artist it must feel like taking a limb out of you :cries:

Ah ok so I remembered about half right

But yeah all the emotions and obviously all the financial attachments to the biggest songs artists write and to have that taken away would be very emotional and scary

This really is her best album to date.

Just heard this from beggining to end, and wow what an experience. Listening only to singles didn't bring the justice this album deserves
