Weirdly, I wouldn’t read too much into it? She’s always been cryptic via IG Stories. Not just about her career but her personal/dating life too. I think next single is just delayed cause she likes to take her sweet time. RCA posted her on Instagram this week so she’s not dropped lmao.

Is that what’s going on here? If true, she should have never done Dancing With the Stars or even entertained being a dancer in her music career. Like she sold us on the brand of the Janet/Ciara lineage, now she wants to be Adele? Waste of dance skills if you ask me!

From the MET gala clip there was contempt in her voice about giving us the uptempo as funny as it was. Idk the only thing I can think of is Fair flopping really took her out of it bc right now it all seems like a chore to her. But I don’t understand bc it’s just not that great a song. I respect that it’s personal to her but she need to put her business cap on. Even if the entire nation loved it we are not enough to carry a track into a hit. Especially with no promo or video so I’m really confused as to what she expected it to do 

 

Sorry to say but she’s just not built for this. I still want the album I’m so invested but I would not anticipate or get excited for anything else from her music wise

I’m hoping this is just her low point of the release cycle, that comes before the song drops as usual. She always drops herself, then needs the public to bring her back up on release night. Only time that didn’t happen was Fair, and we see how that went.

@EnoughSaid I agree on all of that. She was very much bitter that people wanted the uptempo and not that slow song. She feels personally slighted that the public didn’t even entertain Fair, but that’s what happens when you don’t release consistently. Imagine Fair coming out like more in November/December. Hell even January (first week). There would have been a different reception. But she chose to drop a slow song when everyone was making their spring/summer plans and needs to admit that was just bad business.

Honestly I've gotten used to her ghosting on social media. It's definitely made me less excited for her moves and less invested as a stan, but it is what it is.

 

What I think is a lot tackier is when she follows up the ghosting with posts like her most recent one where she's basically suggesting that she doesn't view her music career as her main priority and that she's not particularly fazed by the hold-up. It feels like a slap in the face to the supporters who have spent years waiting for her to release music. Like... does she not want us to care? Because if that's what she wants, then fine I guess, but in that case I hope she doesn't get bothered by the <20K debut week

I honestly don’t even think that’s the case entirely. Normani has a lot of celebrities friends simply because she is already included in that environment and also a very social person. She got great networking in her. But I also see her not even liking being a celebrity at all. We really only see her with Megan the most (because they probably make her attend those events), she never uses social media, we never see actual paparazzi photos of her - she might avoid them at all coasts. 

 

I feel like everything that has happened to Normani throughout her career took a burden on her. And we unfortunately get to witness her showing that (or not actually). Let’s hope she releases this album at least

Yeah that's fair (no pun intended ). I do think for a while she was definitely living for the hype she got as a celebrity (you can tell she really enjoyed all the social media comments gassing her up) and liked the idea that she was "making an impact" and whatnot. But I agree with you that even all of that seems to have died down from her in the last few months, and at this point it's hard to say whether she genuinely enjoys any current aspect of her career.

 

Despite all my criticisms towards the way she's gone about things, I do feel bad for her at the end of the day. I think she's realizing that being a solo music artist wasn't what she envisioned and her heart isn't in it as much as it was at the beginning. She probably thought she was free from all the label and management politics after 5H ended, only to suddenly be back in them again. It's a sad cycle, and while I wish she did more to acknowledge the fact that she also has thousands of fans who have invested time, money and emotions into supporting her, I can understand where her head must be at right now.

I don't think she's saying "no" to her career at all. She's just trying to justify the delays, her endless silence and what not. It's basically her asking for comprehension and showing us a glimpse of her mental state right now. That's what I get from it:
