like.. theres no point in releasing a video anymore she can keep it

I’d prefer they move onto the next single, then with the album release if we’re close to a cuter debut position on the BB200 they can drop this already recorded Fair video imo.

I'm not into hysteria and have always kinda empathised with artists, as it's rare they can spill on the behind the scenes drama in a way that won't ruin their project and overall industry positioning.

HOWEVER...

It's more than clear something is very very off on Normani's backend. That or there's a lot of admin changes happening (like we saw with the recent publishing deal) that are holding things up. Maybe we'll find out in full someday, maybe we won't. But it's indisputable that something is going on.

My main and enduring gripe with her/her team is the lack of awareness of timing and how vital it is to strike while the iron is hot. In her case, hot was the Motivation and Wild Side premiere windows. There is such a limited frame to be a "new" artist and she's very close to losing that.

It's also the reason why I don't like blind stanning. A lot of folk shot down those who voiced displeasure at her releasing Fair. It was either labelled "hating" or "needing to back off as it's what she wanted to express as an artist". All of which is BS (respectfully). She was never in a position to release a mediocre SLOW song like that after months of repeated silence. It was a total buzz kill. She'd have been better off finding a way to keep her social profile popping and collabing with other acts (I'm sure there are countless rappers in need of a hook singer).

Now there's undue pressure on the incoming song to be next levels of fire otherwise it's safe to expect those still trying to take her seriously will simply move on.

She's by no means done yet, but I do think we collectively need to agree that she/her team are not playing this launch of her as a potential MPG right at all.

She def lost that title imo.

But I do agree with majority of this. The pressure or fire shes under is purely because of her own actions. A “the call is coming from inside the house” tea. She couldve released 3-4 songs in the past year or better yet… an album… and with each release the pressure would ease but these year long hiatuses got her in a instant pot pressure cooker.

I know Twitter Nation can be unhinged, but at least they find ways to keep themselves entertained. Don't some of ya'll get tired of paraphrasing the same concerns/critiques every other day? Like we get it. :foxaylove3:

No shade to anyone in particular. I just come in here to casually see if there's any updates and instead I read the same pessimistic filled posts instead. :skull:

Let me stay getting my updates from twitter nation till she announces something and ya'll switch. :celestial5:

But sis…. I’ve been lurking around for like 2 weeks not engaging and there has been no updates bc there is simply no updates :rip:

Fair is dead, the video may or may not be coming, and our insider is in the dark. There reallly is nothing else to talk about unfortunately

FAX!

I hate to compare acts too, but I find the trajectories of Normani and Chloe (as the two new Black girls with MPG potential) as hella interesting.

Chloe has gone for the grassroots, constantly in your face approach. It takes the pressure off her releases to do well and plays into the modern reality of visibility being the new success. Aspects of her product lacks polish and sometimes skews too much. But she's working out her kinks real-time and will be "ready" whenever the single people like the most catches on.

Normani almost has the opposite issue. She's tasted higher levels of success and clearly is going the "perfectionist" route. So while her product is always super polished, she is wasting time and has somehow feels on-par to a Chloe (who arrived way after her). It can even be argued that Chloe is more Pop culturally relevant than Normani at this point.

She has little social media presence, which she predictability only ramps up when she has a release, doesn't participate on TikTok (which would be a saving grace given that it promotes dancing and she can't compete as a singer doing covers), and leaves herself at the mercy of those saying she's presenting herself as a Beyonce or Rihanna who only come up for air when the moment calls for it. Normani's absences may be for totally different reasons but it doesn't help.

Willing both girls to win, but just interesting observing their journeys. Both could almost learn something from the other, with Normani having the most to take note of.

The lies. I’m in the Nation community and they’re losing it daily. And aren’t you bored of also saying the same thing? If you love Normani so much you should be happy there’s people even left willing to discuss cause that’s whittled right down too.

I mean i've only mentioned it like 3 times total over the span of a couple of months verses the same complaining being done almost daily in here. :foxaylove3:

I'd rather everyone let the thread die (along with the song) and come back when the next single is announced than these "discussions", but that won't happen. Posting the same frustrations on how she dropped the ball or could have done things better isn't gonna make her release any faster and can be off putting to new fans coming in here. :foxaylove3:

But if this is what ya'll want to keep discussing then i'll happily keep my thoughts to myself on the matter and keep myself focused on other artists and music I enjoy as I wait for miss Normani to come out of hiding. :gayalipacat3:

I guess right now everything just feels more terrible than ever is because she is now in an "album roll out". There has been 2 singles who were promised to have a parent album. She said countless times how she would be releasing a song this month. And now we know nothing, it's very unfortunate and it just seems worse than all the other times this has happened. If only we know if there's a plan, if anything is happening. We're 17 days into the month and nothing has been said. To think I actually thought this would be MayMani :toofunny3:

Streets saying the Calvin collab is dropping on June 24th

according to what i am seeing on twitter that is the album . not going to get my hopes up it will be a single . though i hope it will at least be on the album when released and not cut like the Dua  collab.

Not even tryna switch because I will always love Normani but honestly this is embarrassing lol. She needs to drop. Enough is enough. If her label is the issue she should use her own money buy some of the songs like Lauren from 5H did and go independent. She’s honestly hurting herself at this point. Insiders have said They weren’t expecting commercial success with Fair so why is this delayed again?! This girl has been promising an album for 4 years now lol. Figure it out

I don’t really expect it to be a single tbh, I think the whole album is coming out that day. Funk Wave Vol 1 came out on June 30th 2017.

Just noticed Rina Sawayama announced her album earlier this week, and today she announced the next single that’s coming out tomorrow. Kinda hopping this is Normani’s strategy too (for next week). :lakitu:

I’m going to give y’all the most plausible explanation on why things got delayed.

Basically, with all these album bombs, RCA doesn’t want to feed Normani to the wolves. Everything is getting pushed back a couple weeks, I fear!

What should have been a early May single will now be a late May, early June single. The album may fall into July/August. She is still going on tour this Fall (from what I’ve been seeing/hearing around the internet), so the music has to drop before then.

I think this is believable. But she needs to speak up! Out here looking like a clown

I understand where you’re coming from but just accept some of us will continue to commiserate.

I think the ones still left are just stunned we’re still in this position. It goes from funny to frustrating but I’m still thinking we could hear something in the next couple weeks

Glad to see Jay around, it’s giving me some amount of comfort. Normani is really low when I think about it. She makes me rely on insiders for comfort. This is really ghetto.

Ding ding ding. It’s just not a good time to release an album for her, trust me. Look around.

If not an album right now still no reason there was no Fair fan video, video or other promo and no sign of even a single, it’s just been dead silence on the music front again. It’s so negligent I’m wondering if Mani herself cares anymore

She’s going to need a clean week with low releases to drop the next single so we can, at bare minimum, get a Wild Side type release and really command the attention of the public.

-

Side note: Normani’s last couple IG follows are interesting. She followed a brand marketer who gets brand deals for celebs, does content calendars, etc.

She also followed the co-owner of pglang (Kendrick lamar is the other owner) and they obviously just finished up on Kendrick’s new album. Pglang is a record label, production house, and publishing. I’m assuming this is why there was a Twitter rumor that Normani would be on Kendrick’s album :lakitu:

i think the rumour started because  she featured in one of his music videos and people were saying she started in khalid's video before their collab and cardis video before their collab so they were assuming she and kendrick had something seperate together also

There will never be a "good time" for an artist who's been promising an album for the last 4 years to release it. Just release it already. My god I truly cannot believe people are still playing the "let's just find the perfect release week" game YEARS later :deadbanana2: :deadbanana2: :deadbanana2:
