Why isn’t she working with any culturally relevant producers?

why are Ryan Tedder and Starrah the main ones executive producing her album? Where is Max Martin, Pharrell Williams? Ryan hasn’t had a hit since 2014.

I’m starting to get worried her debut is going to flop. Her manager never describes her new music as being smash hits or anything.

She literally has worked with some of the most prolific producers there are.

You know anyone she worked with before 2021 is scrapped. In the past year I haven’t heard of her working with anyone that made me go “oh wow she’s coming”

I for one do not care who’s producing the songs/singles on her album. Big name producers =\= hit songs.

I think every issue Normani has relates to label, team, missed opportunities, and execution. The quality of the music has never been a concern and probably never will. She’s really good about keeping a “standard” of sorts. :celestial5:

I agree. The quality of music has always been there which is why she’s still relevant. If Normani was putting out yeah music the gp would’ve stopped checking for her ages ago.

I worry it’s going to be a Fair situation, good quality output but nothing commercially viable or nothing that stands out in the crowded music scene, just by looking at the names of producers. The producers kinda make or break an artist. If it wasn’t for Timbaland, we wouldn’t know Aaliyah. Normani needs to stand out not just be good, she has it way harder than her peers.

I feel like her stuff with Pharrell, Darkchild, Danja and Boi-1da is scrapped because she took too much time to release.

Starrah is excellent. Just off WS her&Mani have fantastic chemistry. This makes me excited again!

Hopefully it’s not. But it’s looking likely.

Yes she has but will their tracks be on the album?

or is this a Camila tea where Frank took over and all sessions that Camila had with top notch producers were scrapped?

what about Max?

Starrah seems to specialize in moody r&b music. Which is what I expected based on Wildside and Fair.  Hopefully she helped Normani find her own sound and voice.

I'm hoping the ones you mentioned are safe

I fear the songs are scrapped/have been passed around to other artists. She can't expect A-list producers to wait around for years for her to be ready to release; especially where there's no guarantee that the album is going to perform well commercially. I really hope I'm wrong but if this is the case, which it likely is, then she really is her own worst enemy :rip:  A losing for the nation.

Starrah did a fantastic job with Wild Side so I am excited about the fact that she is executive-producing the album.

My only concern is the radio silence - why is there nothing happening? Especially when the album is supposedly coming out almost exactly a month from now.

@Getlikemike Tea!

Spoiler

@Camilitau.u It’s funny you bring up Timbaland because he produced Justine Skye’s ENTIRE last project (which was GOOD AS HECK). It should have been her break out for Urban audiences, instead it flopped to hell and back. So I truly believe, producers names don’t help anymore. The most no name producers make like every other #1 on BB Hot 100. The industry used to bias established big name producers but that era seems to be fading as far as an individual producer breaking out a superstar artist is concerned.

That’s because there is no album coming in June. Normani’s project probably is getting pushed to July at this rate. I do think it will come out summer though because that Fall Tour plan is more or less set in stone (barring anything crazy happening like massive COVID outbreaks).

:clap3:There’s the tea! Normani is enough of a name to generate buzz and listeners on her own regardless of big names producers because Harv produced Fair and it didn’t come with massive critical acclaim.

Also while I’m here do we think the bbmas are still happening? I remember something about bruises on her legs and such(?) so do we know if they’re done announcing performers? Or what if it’s giving “and world premiering her new single ‘Normani’ “ I need her to gag us like that! :loki:

Not bruises on her legs being proof of a performance :gaycat6: it’s giving scraps. We would’ve had some tea about now! She’s not performing y’all

Definitely scraps but scraps that make sense? That’s indicative of rehearsals. Plus we can dream. If ppl can be negatively delusional I can be positively delusional

Let’s just assume no BBMAs and then be surprised if it happens. This is the last possible week she could get announced so it’s all or nothing. Single rollout/BBMA announcement would have to start Monday. They can’t delay that any further if it is indeed happening (start taking your bets on a bbmas performance everyone :eli:).

I guess BET Awards is more likely since the next single will 100% be out by then and BET will BEG her to perform finally on the mainstage.

Unless she’s announcing the next single this week, I don’t think she’s performing at the BBMAs :(

Ugh don’t remind me :biblionny: so much material wasted because Crying in the Club and Hey Ma flopped.

Ryan being on the album is NOT the tea. He’s so bland and uninspired. What place does he have working on a black womans R&B record in 2022? :biblio:
