I've given up trying to understand anything they do. "It's a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma". It's above me now.

 

But, when I watch the behind the music stories about hit songs and artists I am getting to realize that the dysfunction is everywhere. Even for songs that end up blowing up.

Yeah it’s cute for fandom purposes, I’m just worried it’s going to get in the way of actual good promotion  Like @popularmoonlight said, I think this works if the official video comes out within a few days of the fan one. But if this is going to push the video by a few more weeks, I think it defeats the purpose. 
 

An aggressive radio push can only do so much if the song’s nonexistent in streaming and in Shazams. The song will eventually start freefalling unless it gets phenomenal callouts. And then what was the point of all of this when we could have jumped straight to the uptempo

Fair is meant to be a slow burner. When she does the 1-2 punch with the Fair MV and then the uptempo MV she will be trending for days.

trust me, we get it lol. i def think fair is gunna shock ppl and be successful slowly.

 

i dont see anything wrong with a fan video and i think you guys are being dramatic. she did a full week of press, a fan video is a great way for her to interact w her fans ESPECIALLY when ppl call her mute and boring, this'll at least show she has a connection w her fans.

 

i think the music video should drop then she announce her next single the week after, so like jay said it should be back to back.

I think she should wait a bit...and release the video towards the end of April. If things went on my way she should drop it once the radios impact start reflecting on streams but she got no time now. On May we need the uptempo

This single was something Normani wanted to put out there for herself to show different flavors from her album. I personally would have made Fair the third single but she isn’t wrong to release it. The issue with her is always keeping up momentum. So I’m glad that the uptempo is coming next month, which is the one they will probably spend their resources on pushing. (Awards shows, talk shows, etc)

After seeing these Camila numbers......she better add "Dancing with a Stranger", "Love Lies", "Diamonds", "Motivation", "Slow Down", "Checklist", and "Waves" to a streaming deluxe edition of the album. We will not be having any 25k first week sales no ma'am.

Adding those songs wouldn't really affect the first week sales. They'd affect the album's sales overall, but only streams that actually took place during the first week factor into first week sales. So all you'd get is a tiny bump from the bit of recurrent streaming that DWAS and LL still get every week.

 

Personally I hope she doesn't tack on her older songs for the sake of boosting overall sales. Most of those songs are pretty old by now and some of them (like Motivation and DWAS) seem completely at odds with the type of album she's creating based on Wild Side and Fair.

I just think that with her album finally being out it will definitely drive some streams to the rest of her catalogue, so may as well add those songs on since they kind of are still part of her debut phase of her career, and it will benefit the album's numbers.

I mean…There’s a lot of excuses that can be pulled out for a low debut for Normani. She’s still a new(ish) artist on her first

album, least popular member in 5H, less than 10 mil Insta followers, no TTH Spotify payola or out the gate radio deals, no longterm solo hits, no #1s under her belt, R&B music, minority disadvantage…not as many excuses for the other one

I love how she’s not doing anything grand this Friday or next Friday, cus it’s definitely Coachella weekend back to back, which all the girls will be focused on so doing anything wouldn’t be the smartest move. Coachella is starting this weekend? Wow. If that’s true, it makes sense to have the fan video be next weekend. I am hoping the release is like this (because Normani is running out of time for a debut performance of a new single at the BBMAs):

Some kind of teaser for the uptempo: May 6-ish

Uptempo released for the BBMAs May 13th. 

 

However I doubt that because we really haven’t heard anything about Normani rehearsing and usually she would be rehearsing by now if something was coming.

She's hiding pretty well these past few weeks. We know she shot a MV (or multiple) but we know nothing about it. When WS was shot she posted about it everywhere, and her dancers did too.

 

I see that schedule happening. I actually am praying that it's going to happen. Album annoucement somewhere between May 6th - 13th. And that's on that

We’re always on the same wavelength Flare cus this is the best way she could do it honestly. I know mani will get it done. These past few weeks of promo have me feeling very optimistic for RCA

I’m sickened by the accuracy. Omg this has so much going against it… including Normani herself
