Why do you have that bland man leading Labour anyway?

Β

You're telling me you can't find one woman with charisma? :rip:Β

Well, they can, she’s their deputy leader. It’s just they fear her power too much to have her be the actual leader.Β :gaycat7:

Wbk Starmer has been wanting rid of all Corbynites for a while now. She's kinda dumb for playing right into his hands and giving him a pretty solid reason to remove her.

Β

Normally I've hesitated to criticise her because of the sheer level of racist and sexist abuse she gets but she was wrong here. Playing oppression olympics does nothing but cause further division. Yeah it may be true that some minority groups experience more discrimination than others but what exactly is achieved by one group saying "I'm more oppressed than you". We can campaign for multiple groups at the same time.

Yeah Diane Abbott was wrong, but she apologised. It's so hypocritical of the current Labour establishment to allow people like Angela Smith (who famously said 'people with funny tinge' referring to people of colour) back into the party because 'she apologised' but kick Diane out for a similar misstep.Β

Β

As the first black woman MP in British history, Diane has decades of activism and social justice work under her belt, it seems very short-sighted to suspend her permanently. Clearly Starmer and his minions just have it out for left-wing MPs, and yeah Diane was dumb to play into their hands like this. Why would any former Corbyn supporter willingly enter anti-semitism debate after the last 8 years is beyond me, she must've known people would drag her in bad faith.Β

Β

Also, as tone deaf as Diane's paragraph was, it's so annoying that this is given so much attention considering she is a back-bencher, meanwhile government officials including prime ministers can say racist sh*t left and right and even propose criminalising Gypsy and Traveller communities and nobody bats an eye. The double standard is so obvious. Diane has no real influence on policy at the moment, go and be mad at the racist Tory party.

Popping in once again to say Angela Rayner needs to take charge of Labour. I know she wants to and I know she can do the damn thing!Β

People aren't asking for wage increases to have a massive disposable income, they just want to be able to afford to heat their homes and buy foodΒ :rip:

Today it was a by election in my constituency. I could not even bring myself to vote for Labour with its current TERF state with Kier Starmer and live with that on my conscious. I decided to vote for Scottish GreensΒ

Β

I suspect Labour will win the seat, since they have actually been campaigning really hard and people feel screwed over by the SNP due to the situation with our previous MP causing the by election in the first place. I saw pictures of Kier Starmer outside my old house dddddΒ

Honestly the situation is so bad, I don't even know what to say. Every time, you think they've hit a new low, they say/do something even worse. I left the UK and I'm not sure if I will ever go back. The country is rotting from the inside and it makes me so sad to see the most vulnerable being blamed for problems being caused by the tories.Β

omg this so badΒ :deadbanana4:Β only 5% of Muslims support Labour following Starmer's stance on Palestine, down from 71%!!! wonder if there is going to be enquiry into Starmer's Islamophobia, but knowing British media they won't care because Starmer's Tory-lite politics align with their interests. his visit to the South Wales Islamic Centre being a total disaster too, several councillors resigning in protest.Β

Β

if this happened to Corby we would already be flooded by condemnations and think pieces about how he's actually the devil, yet when it's Starmer it's crickets. the way oppression is politically weaponised in this country is actually disgusting.Β

I've very out of the loop, can somebody explain to me what's happened with protests, Suella Braverman, Michael Gove and the Cenotaph in the last week please?Β

Very simply, Suella criticised the police decision to allow the pro-Palestinian protests on Armistice Day. She called them biased and said they pick and choose which protests they allow. Then there was considerable violence from far right counter protestors on Armistice Day who were seemingly "defending British values". Suella's comments were cited as a reason for these counter protests and several senior government officials distanced themselves from her comments. Now she's been sacked.

Β

Michael Gove I think basically said she has a tough job and he doesn't blame her for her comments but wouldn't have used the same words. He was also out in London at the weekend and was heckled by people from the Palestinian march and had to be escorted away by police.
