I know the UK girlies better back Angela Rayner as the Labour Leader if that happens! Let the Gobby northerner lead!

It’s a really good demonstration that no matter how powerful they might be, ultimately they can and will be held accountable. Yes it’s taken a lot to get here, but the point is that we did get here. Of course the next leader isn’t going to be good either because there are no good tories, but they carry this burden which is a positive regardless. I’m not sure about a precedent. I reckon conservative voters will just consider Boris a blip and view his replacement as an improvement regardless of how good they actually are.

There have been literally dozens of scandals. The “straw” that broke the camel’s back for these resignations was that Boris appointing a known sexual assaulter to Chief Whip. …However what really buried him is that the Conservative Party are haemorrhaging support. They’re losing the gains they got from Labour and losing safe Tory seats to the Lib Dem’s. Boris was very nearly ousted in a no-confidence vote by his own party a few weeks ago. Basically he was hanging on because he led the Conservatives to a huge majority under the mandate of “getting Brexit done” (something Theresa May couldn’t do - although he managed to secure a worse deal than what Theresa had managed).
